Would a chocolate brown hair color go with olive skin?

I know, stupid question, but this color that I want isn't your average brown. And the picture may be really weird, but haha, it's the color that I want. I also have hazel eyes, more so green.

Where did the expression 'hair of the dog' come from..?

I know it is sorting a hangover with another drink but where did it come from?

Where did the expression 'hair of the dog' come from..?

An alcoholic beverage consumed as a hangover rememdy. The phrase comes from the expression "hair of the dog that bit you", meaning that the best cure for what ails you is to have some more of it. In ancient times it was literally used to say that if a dog were to bite you, putting the dog's hair into the wound would heal it. "Like cures like". This hangover remedy is not recommended because a) it leads to a bad habit of drinking during the day and b)it doesn't really work very well. Still, this method works about as well as most other hangover remedies.

Steve: Man, I'm really paying for all those keg stands I did last night.

Tony: Yeah, I'm hurting too. Hair of the dog?

Steve: Why not, man. We got a few beers left in the fridge.

Where did the expression 'hair of the dog' come from..?

The phrase "Hair of the Dog" is predominately used to refer to imbibing an alcoholic beverage to cure a hangover, although it has seen limited use with respect to other drugs. The intent in so imbibing is to lessen or postpone the effects of the hangover, or the withdrawal from that drug. It is a shortened form of the phrase "The hair of the dog that bit you".

The full phrase is "Hair of the dog that bit you". If the "dog that bit you", or gave you the hangover, was wine, then a little bit of wine the next day should cure the hangover. A "hair" of wine, rather than a full dog!

It was believed before that if a dog bit you, the only way to cure any sicknesss brought on by the bite would be to consume some of that dog's hair

Ever heard the phrase: "Hair of the dog."?

"I do not think it means what you think it means."

Ever heard the phrase: "Hair of the dog."?

Yes, it refers to the practice of, when hungover, drinking what one drank the previous evening, in an attempt to cure the hangover.

Ever heard the phrase: "Hair of the dog."?

No, and I couldn't imagine what it means, is it one of those small town bumpkin sayings?

Ever heard the phrase: "Hair of the dog."?

Sure enough....it means in order to cure your hangover...drink some of what you had the night before....I never could do it though

Ever heard the phrase: "Hair of the dog."?

The complete phrase is "hair of the dog that bit you," and refers to the practice of having a drink to help soothe a hangover.

Ever heard the phrase: "Hair of the dog."?

nope but iv heard of the eye of the tiger if that helps

Ever heard the phrase: "Hair of the dog."?

Ever heard the phrase: "Hair of the dog."?

Yeah, you wake up with a massive hangover and drink what you had last night or a Bloody Mary. Some drink a warm beer but I can't stand that.

What is wrong with my dog?

I have a cocker spaniel and when I got home from work today he is going nuts on his tail. He has pulled out most of the longer hairs and won't quit chewing on it and now he is groaning. I looked at the tail and I can see nothing wrong with it. Could it be fleas? Isn't it too cold for fleas? I live in Northern MN. Am I going to have to bring him to the Vet?

What is wrong with my dog?

It's never too cold for fleas ;) But he has to be around something that had fleas - another dog, dog's blanket, in a house with fleas, etc. and that's unlikely in Northern MN in January. Plus they don't usually inhabit the tail.

Is he chewing on the end of the tail or closer to the base? He may have compacted anal glands that need to be expressed. (If you've never done it before, you might want to see the vet - they smell bad. BAD!)

Is it possible that he caught the tail and broke the tip? Or is having a skin reaction?

What is wrong with my dog?

fleas

What is wrong with my dog?

Sounds like fleas or a skin irritation... give her a bath and watch her... if it doesn't stop... call a vet...

What is wrong with my dog?

it's fleas or ticks. something is biting his tail other than himself

What is wrong with my dog?

It could be fleas, allergies, or anal gland problems. I would call your vet and ask if they think that you should bring the dog in.

What is wrong with my dog?

dogs get what they call "hot spots", it may be that and can be treated with creme from a vet

What is wrong with my dog?

Yes, bring him to a vet, My dog is a Husky, and she started biting on her paw alot and we took her to the vet and she had little bacteria on her paw...and ti makes her chew until she breaks skin..and then will create a lick spot..and and open wound for an infection...get it checked out

What is wrong with my dog?

sounds like fleas - go to the vet, get frontline on him today and get them to give him a hydrocortisone injection to stop the itch until the frontline works. If he is infested with them, get the injection and bath him in anti -flea shampoo, dry him with hair dyer and then put on frontline tonight

What is wrong with my dog?

Dogs are prone to mites in the winter, well all year round but dry winter air makes them more irritating to dogs. I suggest taking him to a vet to double check cause it could also be just dry skin.

But if it is mites you vet can put you onto a good brand of mite controll, i think there is a shampoo for it but im not sure.

What is wrong with my dog?

maybe the dog is bored. My does that all day unless I play with her.

What is wrong with my dog?

it's probably not fleas.. i'd take him to the vet

What is wrong with my dog?

Check out my cocker too!! Her name is Coco. What I can tell you by experience, it could very well be dry skin. You could try to get a conditioning shampoo, or better yet.....have your vet give him a good check up. Im sure it's nothing to worry about. Im glad to see your love for your pup.

What is wrong with my dog?

In a word, yes. Could be worms, constipation, almost anything. A trip to the vet is imperative.

What is wrong with my dog?

It is probably fleas....My daughter just went through the same thing with their dog...took her to the vet and they gave her a shot to kill the fleas...then put some stuff on the back of her neck to keep fleas from reinfecting her...they also had to treat the house...Fleas love the area at the top of the tail area where it meets the buttocks....you need to take him to the vet.

Has nothing to do with being unclean...fleas live in the soil...and when a dog goes outside...they jump on them.

Please...your dog is suffering...take him to the vet.

What is wrong with my dog?

It is possibly flees ... However there is a thing called HOT SPOT . It's like a allergic reaction . The more it is irritated the worse it gets ... If it is , the area would show redness . Just make sure it stays clean and put some Neosporin on it . Also Benedril has anti inflammatory ... Try a half a pill to start ... Good luck

What is wrong with my dog?

Could be an allergy. It's vet time!

What is wrong with my dog?

It most likely is fleas. Poor little dog, get him some frontline, advantage, revolution, or advantix (only use advantix if you don't have cats as it is very toxic to them).

You could buy a single dose from your vet which will cost you about 15 dollars just to see if that's the problem. Most of these products kill the fleas in a matter of hours. Just avoid the stuff you can buy at Wal Mart etc. They are ineffective and can cause serious problems.

If this doesn't stop your dog's tail destruction, take him to the vet. Fleas are the #1 cause of hot spots.

It's not your fault that your dog got fleas, it happens. As long as you get him treated, no problem.

Good luck

What is wrong with my dog?

If its flea's all you dog has to do is go out side to get them..It also could be worms..You can treat both very east....For flea's bath your dog with Dawn dish soap lots of it lather..You will see the flea's quick with the soap and water..If you see them, get Frontline..Works the best... If it's worms, well you know where to look...(poop). Sounds like flea's to me...Oh, it's not to cold for flea's.. The dog will bring them in the house...(Even if your house is spotless) Good Luck !!

What is wrong with my dog?

You do not have to be pigs for your dog to have fleas. The dog can get fleas from one trip outside. Especially if he has had any kind of contact with another animal. There is a medicine you can purchase at retail stores such as Walmart for fleas, that is easily applied. You put it on their backs from the neck to the tail, right down the spine. If that doesnt work, I would take some of the previous suggestions, and go to a vet. Shouldn't cost too much. 30-50 bucks for a visit.

What is wrong with my dog?

it sounds like flees or irritation. His skin may be very sensitive and the shampoo that you are using is hard on his body. I use this all natural shampoo for any pet. It will help his skin and like i said t is all natural so it will help him. you can look it up at fleatea.com it is very easy and affective.

What is wrong with my dog?

SOUNDS LIKE HE IS HAVING SEPARATION ANXIETY--BE SURE HE GETS (ALOT) OF EXERCISE!!

What is wrong with my dog?

Just take him to the vet. This could be very serious and you are just sitting around asking questions! Sorry but it's true.

How are Long Hair Chihuahuas?

Are they good family dogs? Do they get along with cats?

How are Long Hair Chihuahuas?

Chihuahuas are one people dogs, most of the time. They are too small for little children and can get seriously hurt if stepped on. They are the number one biting dog in the USA. If they were the size of pit bulls they would have the bad rep and not the pit bulls. Mine get along great with the cats but they need to be raised with them or they will torment them.

How are Long Hair Chihuahuas?

Chihuahuas are wonderful dogs!! I do not recommend them for smaller kids, less than 6 years old. They can do very well with cats if they are raised with them.

How are Long Hair Chihuahuas?

they are good family dogs and some can get along with cats

How are Long Hair Chihuahuas?

If you get them at a young age and they are around cats growing up they usually are okay, the same with children but need to be watched carefully because they break easy. They do tend to bark alot and may be alittle nippy when it comes to others coming into your house. When you get a puppy make sure their skull is closed and that they are not what you call a bubble head. Usually you have 24 hrs to take to vet for check up to make sure it is okay and if not may return. If you get a puppy make sure to put alittle surgar in its water because they tend to get hypoglosymia (sp) (low blood surgar) and can go into coma. If it starts acting very tierd and clubsy put some karo syrup on its tounge or honey and get it to the vet. Good Luck

How are Long Hair Chihuahuas?

i have 1, and she is one of teh best dogs ever%26lt;3 you should really get 1

How are Long Hair Chihuahuas?

I have 2 and they are wonderful pets. Some tend to ge attached to one person though and can get snippy. Always keep an eye on them if they will be around small children.

The full phrase is "Hair of the dog that bit you". It is most often referred to when talking about the use of alcohol as a hangover-cure.

don't know but good question

What does the phrase "hair of the dog mean"?

Having a big hangover.

What does the phrase "hair of the dog mean"?

The whole phrase is "hair of the dog that bit you"...meaning taking a swig of whatever you drank the night before to help with a hangover!

What does the phrase "hair of the dog mean"?

Take something to combat what you had previously, you had the dog so now just have the hair to see you through

What does the phrase "hair of the dog mean"?

I was wondering too when I heard the expression. I looked it up. The metaphore is that the remedy is from the "hair of the dog that bit you" The hair being more ethanol the next morning and the dog bite is the hangover. If somebody does that, they are probably an alcoholic.

What does the phrase "hair of the dog mean"?

"The phrase you're looking for is "hair of the dog that bit you," and it is a metaphor for the dubious practice of curing a hangover after a night of heavy drinking by simply drinking a bit more of whatever gave you the hangover in the first place. I believe that most medical authorities agree that this method will, at best, simply delay the onset of a probably even worse hangover. At worst, you'll end up drunk and hungover simultaneously.

While "hair of the dog that bit you" may not work as a hangover cure, it is interesting because it arose as an allusion to an older practice, that of treating dog bites with a poultice containing the hair of the offending dog itself. The metaphorical "hangover cure" use of "hair of the dog that bit you" dates back to about 1546, while the practice of actually putting dog hair on bites is much older (and even less effective)."

What does the phrase "hair of the dog mean"?

A hair of the dog that bit you! ......meaning...you need just a 'lil bit of whatever it was that you had (in large quantities) the night before. Just a smidgen of it should take care of that hangover you woke up with!

What does the phrase "hair of the dog mean"?

Superstitious belief that eating some hairs from a dog that has bitten you will ward of rabies.

Taking a few morning after drinks of the same alcoholic beverage you got drunk on the the night before to offset a hangover. (bad idea)

What does the phrase "hair of the dog mean"?

When someone has gotten drunk ,the next

morning, they drink a shot of whatever they drank the night before. It's "suppose" to "take the edge off". That way, they avoid a head-ache.

What does the phrase "hair of the dog mean"?

The meaning is (usually) take more of what ever it was that made you feel bad (e.g. more alcohol will "cure" a hangover).

The source for this is that long ago (17-18th C.), there was a belief that if a person was bitten by a rabid dog, eating (or somehow consuming) some hair from that specific dog would somehow cure you. This is, needless to say, false. As is the belief that more alcohol will fix a hangover (lots of water is pretty much the only fix, as a hangover is caused by dehydration, which comes on because alcohol is a diuretic).

What does the phrase "hair of the dog mean"?

Having a drink to help your hangover.

It's really "a hair of the dog that bit you" and it it refers to the belief that if a dog bites you the wound will heal better and faster if you place some of the hair from it on the bite.

Oh, by the way it is a terrible idea to have a drink to cure a hangover. Please don't.
