I do not agree with hair dye ....It's done for the owner not the dog. I don't think the pet enjoys the process and it seems that it is basically done to gain attention for the owner. I have seen it done and it makes me feel a little sad for the dog.

I have seen this done to poodles and I think its silly. I would never do that to my poor dog.

I think that it is stupid on many levels.

One being that it is very tacky and tasteless, But mostly it is something that I think may have adverse effects on the animals life.

Chemicals like that can be very dangerous to a animals health.

NO, I think it is ridiculous! I have seen poodles that have had their hair dyed and their nails painted. Obviously their owners need to get another hobby to occupy their time. I am sure that the dog does not feel more confident as a neatly groomed person would.

I'll bet those dogs have dreams of rolling in the dirt and "letting down their hair" so to speak!

I've seen it, I've had it done on my wife's dog, and I don't mind at all. She actually looked cute.

Groomers do it all the time. They use nail polish and hair dyes designed especially for dogs, so it's 100% safe.

If you want a pink punk poodle, or a stripey shih tzu, I say go for it.

I think it is so wrong, since animals are so unpredictable, what if they get these chemicals in thier eyes or lungs? I would be devistated if my dog went blind or died due to a stuipd thing like getting it's hair dyed. People are idiots.

Honestly as long as it is being done at a groomers and they are using pet friendly materials, go for it.

We do the same to our bodies, we pierce, tattoo, dye, paint etc.... and as long as they are using safe ingredients, I truly do not have a single problem with it.. in fact i like the idea of pampering my pooch just as much as myself.. I know I feel better when i am all dolled up

NOW that having been said, if the pooch appears distressed or does not enjoy these services, i would discontinue immediately, but if they make no fuss, its A OK

I have a chihuahua, and have yet to do any of these things (except dress her, which despite what people say she needs clothes.. if i need a sweater so does she) However a friend of mine has a collie and she gets medicinal oatmeal baths and her nails painted, and after her "spa" day she prances around like a princess, she loves it.

I don't think any of them should be done....I always thought that a dog with painted nails looked dumb....but I am a guy so that whole cute thing just does not work....I have seen dogs hair died as part of a halloween thing....they only used kool-aid though...it was orange....kinda funny....I really don't feel anything....its their dog...does not mean I have to like it.

Ello, I belive you can get Pet-Icure nail polish if you dog is white put food coloring on it or look it up on yahoo, google, or AOL or anything for that matter. I've seen it and it looks georgeous on white poodles! It makes me feel that I like my dog apart from all the rest and unique like me, I litsen to lots of 80's music and i'm unique!

My mom uses dog safe nail polish (geez they sell everything nowadays!) on her yorkie and I think it looks silly.

When see people with the dyed poodles, it's a little sad. My dogs are a member of my family, not a fashion accessory!

I think if it does not hurt or annoy the dog why not. So many people go on about girls who get these little dogs put them in handbags dress them up and do their hair, saying its wrong. You will find those girls who pamper their dogs that much also love their dog that much. As long as they are not spoilt to the point they turn into nasty dogs it should not be a problem. I have a Chi i dont put her in a bag and i dont dress her up, but when its winter and i want to pop into the shops, i will be putting a jacket on her and i will put her in a dog bag or stroller. She feels the cold and shop owners wont allow me in their shop unless she is off the floor, it shouldnt matter if the jacket has a fur collar, or the bag is designer pink. if the dog is well loved and in no pain stuff what people say !!!

It is totally up to the owner whether or not they want to beautify their dog in that way. I would not terrorize my dog in that manner. I keep thinking about when the dog bites or even licks her nails - those substances are going down their stomachs.

As long as the products being used are non toxic, and the dog enjoys having it done. There is nothing wrong with it.

I have colored my Standard Poodle several times ..he LOVES all the attention he gets while being groomed as well as from other people who see him and come over to ohh and ahh over him.

Us groomers have comptitions for this sort of thing. Its called Creative Styling. Nothing wrong with it, it is NOT cruelty (hey...at least the dog is getting groomed! Which is more than I can say for alot of dogs who only get groomed once a year and are left a dirty matted mess...now that is cruelty!) We use products like sidewalk chalk, blo pens, kool aid, and hair colors specifically made for pets. All non toxic and they wash out. Maybe you just have to be a groomer to appreciate creative styling. It is an art form..as regular grooming is too.

As for nails...dont use human nail polish. They make dog nail polish that dries in seconds and is non toxic. I polish several clients dogs nails as well as my own dogs. All but my Rottie and that is because she does not like her feet messed with.

I think the nails are fine, I used to paint my dogs nails sometimes just for fun but I don't agree with the hair dye. Unless there is a special dye for dogs that you can get in a pet store or something. Don't use human hair dye on your dog, their skin is very different from our and it can cause a really bad irritation if your dogs tends to have sentitive skin. I would look into it first and see if there is anywhere that sells dog hair dye.

There is no health reason to stop you from dyeing the hair and painting the nails of your dog unless your dog has supersensitive skin. I have groomed dogs for years and many clients wanted their poodles dyed for special occasions or holidays. Of course, their nails were painted every time they came in to be groomed. One man had 2 white toy poodles %26amp; every Christmas I dyed one red %26amp; one green. At Halloween he wanted them dyed orange %26amp; Valentine's Day they were red %26amp; pink. Easter he just wanted them a pastel color. I had a Platinum Silver Standard Poodle that I clipped in the Town and Country clip and then dyed him lavender. His nails were painted lavender, he had a lavender bow,lavender collar %26amp; leash. I thought he looked great %26amp; he must have thought so too because he sure pranced when I took him for his walk.
