My dog was suffering hair loss but not any more!?

My cattle kelpie cross used to lose lots of hair daily but I have changed her diet to adult lower fat food as she was overweight. Also I was under a lot of stress and perhaps so was she, being so in tune with me, but no longer so. Can anyone explain if either would contribute to her not losing so much now.

One thing to remember is that all dogs go through a 'shedding' season so it is normal to have times when the dog does not shed at all.

Probably the change in food has helped-not so much due to a lower fat content but you may have inadvertently changed over to a feed higher in Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.

You are right in saying that a stressed dog will be prone to shed more as will dogs under physical strain viz pregnancy, lactation old age and disease.

Excess bathing will also contribute to abnormal hair loss and regular grooming will help keep the coat in better shape and less prone to shed

your feeding it better dog food probly with rice corn is bad for dogs read ingrediance food is the most common cause of hair loss except mainge

dogs are often emotionally affected by the owners condition

Lots of things can contribute to hair loss in dogs - from poor diet to stress to an allergy. Less stress %26amp; better diet definently seems to be helping her!

Dogs who are close to their owners will often share their feelings. If you have been very stressed, your dog may take on those same feelings. Stress can cause an animal to lose their hair. It is good that she is not losing it anymore. The change in her diet to a healthier dog food was a good choice. Sometimes it's as simple as the ingredients and such in the food that can cause their hair to fall out. If she is having any trouble with her coat being dry you can put fish oil over her food and it will give her coat a nice shine and restore the oil to her skin.

Best of luck to you.
