i use a damp sponge mop... sort of like the rubber gloves as mentioned by others, but without having to get down on the floor.

I have a Staffie and he maults a lot. My Dyson is good to clear it up....

wrap loads of sticky-tape round your fingers and 'brush' the carpet. Keep repeating.

Put a pair of rubber gloves on and brush your hands over the carpet. The hair will roll up and you can pick it up. You can use this method for getting pet hair off furniture.

Argh! I have a Border Collie/Keeshond mix.. a"perma-shedder" as I call her. They have the "dual layered" coat as well.

The first thing is to brush them regularly... with a wire pin brush AND a comb or grooming rake (to get at the inner coat)

I use a comb that has alternating long and short pins, and I'm amazed the amount of hair that comes off my dog! (Don;t overdo it though, you only want to remove the loose hair, not pull any out)

As for vacuumig, its a match for my Dyson, and even my shop-vac. Once every week or two I take the wire brush to my carpets (pretty much wall to wall too) to "thatch" it. Especially in the high traffic areas. Other areas I can get away with vacuuming at least twice a week.

Yes I do! know a good way....

Go buy a BRAND new mop.You know the old fashion ones,

Then spray with water the mop head...make sure! its damp! not wet.

Then move it over the carpet in the areas you wish to clean...Only for a minute.

Go out side remove all pet hair...shake mop now over a rail,

away from yourself.....and do again....using maybe a little more spray of water. The Mop should NOT be WET.

It takes time, but! is very good for the removal of dog hair.

It should ONLY be done when only you are home, and NO shoes...on.The dog must not be around also for say one hour.

i used to use a good old stiff scrubbing brush..brush it over the carpet in circular movements and the hairs bunch up and come out of the pile..this is really great for stairs too..

Sure it's hard graft but it works.

Use a broom.

The vacum will get clogged.

With your trainers on scrape your feet over the carpet then pick up the piles of fur before vac'ing. A scrubbing brush is also effective. Brush / comb the dog every other day - we have a 9 yr old Lab and she loves the attention naturally !!

A DAMP mop is good for the tiled / wooden floor areas. Now get to it.

i got a lab and the best thing i bought was a hover head with a brush in it . save using the sticky tape for hours !
