My dog has long hair, and when my other dog plays with him he gets really bad knots. How can I stop

The hair that gets tangled is on his ears. I've tried tying it back but I think it makes his ears sore. I've also tried spraying detangler on them, but it hasn't seemed to work.

Go to a pet supply store and buy the spray that you use to stop a puppy from teething on your furniture. Spray this lightly on the fur but be careful of eyes, etc. It tastes bad (like red pepper) and will help to stop the habit. You could also learn the "leave it" command for when you catch him chewing. Comb the hair on your long haired dog after each play session while the hair is still wet (before it dries and gets sticky).

Well you can cut it's hair,get a shampoo made specially for that,brush it and see if u can find anything like I dunno,or take it to the vet.

Brush him CAREFULLY every day. Use special care when dealing with tangles because it will feel uncomfortable to a dog and he might bite. Brush from the ends out to the tip (in other words, not from the root to the tip because you will only snag the tangle and make it worse.)

Don't spray detangler on him. He might ingest it and get sick.

You might have to have the knot cut out. Again, be careful if the knot is close to the skin. You don't want to nick the ear. If in doubt, take him to a groomer and pay the $$ for professional care, and from that time onwards, brush him every single day.

if you brush him really thorough and really often, he nots should be much easier to detangle. =]
