stop spraying him with hairspray! get a grooming brush with rubber bristles and take him outside 1-2 times a day and brush him instead. animals needs grooming and this is the best way for his hair to come out, it comes out for a reason, leaving it on him stuck with spray isn't good for him.

Absolutely not. He may lick it off his coat and over time it may poison him, apart from the long term effect it may have on his skin. Remember he will continue to shed hair so the hairspray will pervent it from falling off - over time it will accumulate on him and he will become a matted mess.

If he is shedding more then usual you should take him to a vet as he may have a skin condition that can be treated.

Fur in the home is part of owning dogs. If you don't like it you should get a breed with hair rather then fur, and if not there is no solution other then to hoover regularly or not own a pet with fur - ie get a budgie instead!

i would'nt use hairspray as its very flammable, brush the dog regularly and then apply a liberal amount of heated saddle soap to the pelt. its available from all good saddlers. its pelt will be lovely and soft and very pliable.

I don`t know what is wrong with you!! How can you do this? Using a chemical on you dog that is meant for humans can cause his hair to fall out and he can get a skin irritation. Why don`t you go to your local pet shop and buy a brush that you can brush him with three times a day. That will make the hair much less and not pose a threat to your dog`s health

Your better off using wallpaper paste, 1 coat every 3 months is fine. W e have a lovely Retriever (long haired) She doesn't look as good with the paste on, but it has stopped the hair falling about the house.

You could try warm water in a spray bottle with sugar dissolved in it then when he licks himself at least it will taste nice. The only problem is that his teeth will eventually fall out, and may land on your new carpet. You could counteract the impact this has on the carpet by super glueing his jaws together

that sounds cruel,,,,, daily brushing will help and remember not to overbath as that will cause dry skin and shedding... dogs usually shed twice a year... hang in there you should have a respite soon.. also make sure you are feeding a quality ( non supermarket) pet food
