Chihuahuas are one people dogs, most of the time. They are too small for little children and can get seriously hurt if stepped on. They are the number one biting dog in the USA. If they were the size of pit bulls they would have the bad rep and not the pit bulls. Mine get along great with the cats but they need to be raised with them or they will torment them.

Chihuahuas are wonderful dogs!! I do not recommend them for smaller kids, less than 6 years old. They can do very well with cats if they are raised with them.

If you get them at a young age and they are around cats growing up they usually are okay, the same with children but need to be watched carefully because they break easy. They do tend to bark alot and may be alittle nippy when it comes to others coming into your house. When you get a puppy make sure their skull is closed and that they are not what you call a bubble head. Usually you have 24 hrs to take to vet for check up to make sure it is okay and if not may return. If you get a puppy make sure to put alittle surgar in its water because they tend to get hypoglosymia (sp) (low blood surgar) and can go into coma. If it starts acting very tierd and clubsy put some karo syrup on its tounge or honey and get it to the vet. Good Luck

I have 2 and they are wonderful pets. Some tend to ge attached to one person though and can get snippy. Always keep an eye on them if they will be around small children.
