Nanny wage?

This may not help too much, but I was basically a nanny for 2 children in Montana. When I started the baby was 8 weeks and the older girl was 18 months. I would be there M-F 8am to 5pm most of the time. As the kids got older, I took them to feed the ducks, carousel, and many other things. We would play outside and go swimming. We also would read stories, and go to the library. This also includes potty training, feeding them, all of the basic necessities. Three days a week another little girl would come over to play. I did this for a year and a half. As for the children they paid me $50/day. Everyday I would make sure the house was tidy but once a week, I would sweep, mop, vacuum floors and furniture, and clean bathrooms. They have a somewhat large house, 5 bedroom, 3 bath, and she paid me $10/hour to clean. It usually took me 3 hours/week to clean once I got into a routine. So basically, for everything I mentioned they paid me $1120/month but also remember this is 2 children. I hope this helped!

Its called Hypertrichosis. It is excessive hair growth over and above the normal for the age, sex and race of an individual, in contrast to hirsutism, which is excess hair growth in women following a male distribution pattern. Hypertrichosis can develop all over the body or can be isolated to small patches.

Hypertrichosis may be congenital (present at birth) or acquired (arises later in life).

Having trouble with attachment combs on clipper?

I bought an Oster clipper and it came with several length attachment combs. The clipper by itself works great but when I try to use any of the combs, the clipper jams up and pulls my dogs hair. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this?

I can trim her without the combs but the length is so uneven that my dog looks like a mess. She is a cockapoo with poodle-like hair. I used to take her to Pet Co but they won't take her anymore now that she is 15 years old. I will have to find another place eventually.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Having trouble with attachment combs on clipper?

I never liked the attachments combs, I've had the same problem. You can order longer blades for your Oster clipper, 3F is the longest so far! Did you try going against the coat direction? and you have to do this several times! Unless your using a #15 blade (you have to brush out the coat first to get a better cut) then you have to come back with a pair of curved scissors to finish the cut... to even it out. I use a black rubber mat on my table and a dark colored wall to get a better view of the coat to even it out with the scissors! you can google Oster replacement blades to find all the sizes!

Having trouble with attachment combs on clipper?

Go the the place that you bought it, and have them show you how to use the combs. Good luck!

Having trouble with attachment combs on clipper?

Do you mean the guide blades that go on top of the clipper so you don't cut too short? I find that they will do that if the hair is tangled or really thick. If you can comb the hair first it really helps!

Could you tell me is there any differance from dog's hair clippers to human hair clippers?

Yes, there is a difference. The oils in a dogs skin %26amp; coat are different than the oils in ours as is the texture of their hair/fur. Most clippers you will find in pet stores or pet section of your local K-mart aren't any different (except for the price) than human clippers. Human clippers will not last very long, the blades will seize up and it will be rendered useless unless you buy new blades (it would be cheaper to just buy new clippers). Clippers sold in a grooming supply store are alot sturdier and will last alot longer than traditional human ones but these will cost you a few hundred dollars. Human clippers will not harm your dog at all, so if your just planning on grooming your own dog you are probably best to buy $35 clippers from K-mart. But if you're planning to groom every dog in your neighborhood, save yourself alot of headaches and get the good ones from a grooming suppy store.

Could you tell me is there any differance from dog's hair clippers to human hair clippers?

idk but i would guess dogs are more quiet. and probably about a 30$ difference. lol

Could you tell me is there any differance from dog's hair clippers to human hair clippers?

there not they are just the same ..one cost more then the other coz they said one for a dog

Could you tell me is there any differance from dog's hair clippers to human hair clippers?

dogs have two layers of hair so the clippers are desighned for dog hair

Could you tell me is there any differance from dog's hair clippers to human hair clippers?

human clippers...whats that??oh no...its more expensive...!!!

Could you tell me is there any differance from dog's hair clippers to human hair clippers?

Yes, Count the number of teeths on the clipper's blade. Pet clippers has more teeth and human clippers has less (24)

Could you tell me is there any differance from dog's hair clippers to human hair clippers?

YES!!! HUGE differences!

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!

Could you tell me is there any differance from dog's hair clippers to human hair clippers?

There has to be a difference....I tried the ol' Wal Mart clippers on my dog and they wont work with a gaurd.

Could you tell me is there any differance from dog's hair clippers to human hair clippers?

Human clippers cut hair by moving two pieces of metal back and forth. The cutting is done by the motion. Dogs fur is softer- for the most part these clippers will not work on dogs.

Dog clippers use blades. This makes it easier to trim and slice open an ear. BE CAREFUL!

Could you tell me is there any differance from dog's hair clippers to human hair clippers?

no there is really no diff. they cut the same. i use human clippers on my dog all the time.

Do Border Terriers shed a lot?

was thinking of getting one but my dad and grandpa are allergic to dog hair. Will they be okay if i get one, even if I try to brush out all of the hair that their getting rid of? Or do I have to keep looking for another dog that doesn't shed at all?

Do Border Terriers shed a lot?

I bred BTs for over 12 yrs. You should go to a breeder with your dad and grandpa and see how they react to the dogs. Have them pet the dogs, rub on their coats, let them lick your dad and grandpa. Some people are allergic to the dander, the hair, and the saliva or a combination or any. Borders have a stiff wire coat...in its life cycle the coat starts out shorter and tight to the skin(look at show dogs at the Border Terrier Club of America by going to www.AKC.org) ..as the coat get older it grows shaggier. Some people can't handle the texture of the hair or the dander (BUT this can apply to any breed of dog so you would have to test them with each breed of dog). YES Borders do shed...they shed more when the coat blows (get shaggy). At that stage the coat should be "handstripped" (plucked out) done correctly it doesn't hurt the dog and they will still have the undercoat left. This usually only needs to be done every 6 months unless you want to keep the tighter coat going..you can "roll" (pluck only the older long hairs) the coat...this may have to be done weekly. You can't brush ALL of the shedding hair out of any dog...all dogs shed unless they are hairless, some just shed into their own coat so you don't see it on the floor-you have to brush them to remove the hair and prevent matts.

Do Border Terriers shed a lot?

Get a shorthaired dog like Dalmation Etc.

What does it mean when my dog pulls hair out of her tail?

she is a year old mini pomeranian, not neutered yet and sometimes licks her vagina

What does it mean when my dog pulls hair out of her tail?

It most likely means that your dog has a very itchy tail. You should have her checked out by a vet, it could be dry skin, fleas, mange, or something else.

Many unspayed females lick themselves like that. Shes just cleaning herself. They do that more often when they're in heat too. She could be in heat and you haven't noticed any blood because she licks it.

How to prepare for a puppy....?

Pour cold apple juice on the carpet in several places and walk around barefoot in the dark.

Wear a sock to work that has had the toes shredded by a blender.

Immediately upon waking, stand outside in the rain in the dark saying, "Be a good puppy, go potty now, hurry up - come on, let's go!"

Cover all your best clothes with dog hair. Dark clothes must use white hair; light clothes must use dark.

Float some hair in your first cup of coffee in the morning.

Also put some hair in everything that you cook!!! And in the pots and pans in your cupboards!!

Run out in the snow/rain in your bare feet to close the gate.

Tip over a basket of clean laundry, scatter clothing all over the floor.

Leave your underwear on the living room floor because that's where the puppy will drag it anyway.....especially when company is coming.

How to prepare for a puppy....?

LMAO!!! so true!

don't forget...rearrange the living room furniture before you leave the house, put all foam from the cushions in a shredder and blow it throughout the house. if you have little kids knock them down a few times a day to get them used to it and have them put there toys underneath a truck and run over it a few times...lololol

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

My friend has a pitbull and a small terrior. They get along great. Her pitbull is not agressive around people it knows - it tends to snap at strangers who make swift, jerky or assertive movements, but other than that she's a complete sweetheart. She's not so great with other full grown dogs: hair raises, snarling bark, it's hard to restrain her, etc. She's never been around pups.

I'm getting a german shepherd puppy. My friend and I spend a lot of time together and she would like to socialize her dogs - as I would like to properly socialize my little pup. I've heard agressive breeds, usually, are much less agressive with unfamiliar pups than they are unfamiliar adult dogs.

What do you think? Would it be stupid to introduce my dog to this pit? And if you think it'll be okay, what precautions should I take?

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

They will be fine just introduce them slowly. I have a pit bull and she gets along very well with other pets of all kinds. Pit bulls are more social then people want to realize:)

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

that pit bull is going to kill that puppy and you know it...or else you wouldn't have posted this.

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

probaly not pit-bulls are very aggresive well most are you try it then decide

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

i think they would be fine just introduce them slowly

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

I would not risk having my dog around a dog who is agressive around other dogs.

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

if ANY dog has a known history of being dog aggressive, i would never risk my dog.

Your dog and your friends dog don't have to be friends they don't ever have to meet eachother. I would rather separate them forever than have a dead dog because they got into a fight.

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

yeah that's ok I used to have a 11 years old German Shepard(in human years) with a 1 month golden retriver. They work out fine in fact they were probaly father and son. But when you take your dog to your frind's dog put him on a leash and tell your frind to put her dog on a leash too. If everything goes alright then you and your friend can take the leash out and let them venture around. But if things don't go as well then go back home. Just remember to introduce them slowly

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

You did not say how old the pit is. I would not socialize your puppy with this dog. It could have a bad outcome. You already say that the pit will snap at people who make swift, jerky or assertive movements, puppies do that all the time!

You say that she has never been around pups but she does not like other full grown dogs and she is hard to restrain.

I would not take the chance. I would socialize your puppy first with other puppies and then with dogs that you know could not harm him.

Are there any puppy kindergarten classes in your area? They are offered in many towns and cities by the Parks and Rec department or adult ed. There are also lots of dog training facilities now. Puppy K is a great way to start your puppy in basic obedience and to socialize them with other pups.

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

First off I would suggest your friend get training for pit. Any human aggression out of a pit is unacceptable and aggression towards other dogs, while not uncommon, shouldn't be tolerated either. Also maybe looking into a correctional collar or gentle leader to make controling the animal easier. I love pits but I also love well behaved dogs. And any dog that shows aggression to humans outside of provocation is not well behaved regardless of breed.

As for the puppy, if the dog respects you it should respect any animal you bring to the group. I would however take precautions when introducing the puppy though. Such as a loose muzzle for the initial introduction just to head off a possible misunderstanding. While most dogs are tolerant of pups I would be uneasy with your friends pit.

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

I don't think it would be wise of you to "test" this pitbull's social skills on your new pup, especially if your friend has "difficulty restraining" him. She should consider taking him to obedience class, and once you are both confident that she has COMPLETE control over this dog, and is able to restrain him if need be, let him meet your new pup as long as they are both on leashes.

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

NO!

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

don't automatically assume your friend's dog is dangerous because its a pit.

i think it might be fine...since it's still not full grown. and if they get along there's less likely of a chance your friend's dog will be aggressive to yours when it's full grown.

i say let them meet each other, but restrain them TIGHTLY on a leash. if your friend's pit starts to growl or has her hair standing up...then it's probably not a good idea. but if they start wagging their tails and attempt to sniff nose-to-nose, then let them. they should then get along great, since this is a sign of greeting to each other.

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

You shouldn't let them meet each other because if the pit bull gets angry or aggressive the pit bull will do something bad to the puppy.

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

The problem with puppies are they are small, furry, and make lots of sudden movements and sounds. The problem with most pitties are they have a strong prey drive that is triggered by small, furry, squeaky creatures. Not a good mix. Since this pittie is, you say, hard to control and dog agressive I would not risk your pup unless the pittie got a lot of training first, and even then I would be VERY careful!

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

We had a pit bull when we got our boerboel. Tank(my pit bull), got along great with our new puppy. Good thing too. My boerboel now towers over Tank at 230lbs. Just supervise as you should when you bring any new animal into the house. Keep the pit bull leashed during the first few introductions, and stay vigilant.

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

I dont' think its a good idea

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

IF you decide still to let your pup and the pit meet, DO NOT do it on the pit's turf or on your pup's turf. Meet on neutral ground such as a playground or public park where plenty of other dogs have been so neither dog decides it has to protect its own turf.

Do not let either of the dogs be off leash, and be sure the leashes used are short enough to maintain complete control over each animal. I'd suggest a pinch collar for the pit since you say she's hard to restrain. Personally, I wouldn't do it. I live across the street from a pit who loves me to death, but she does not like my dog - who stays home behind his fence - and the pit charge the fence every time she gets out of her own yard.

Pits are unpredictible when it comes to introducing them to new animals. Just think carefully and be particularly alert to any sudden movement by the pit and pay attention to its body language. Also, go padded; you don't know at what point you may have to put yourself between your pup and the pit if she decides she's not going to like the pup.

Good luck. I'm sure we'll all like to know what you decide - and how it goes if you introduce them.

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

pitbulls are a gentle dog....NOT!!!!

Will a pit bull do well with a puppy?

I am a pit bull owner and as long as your friend is dominate over the pit bull you should have no problems introducing a new dog to her. especially a puppy. the more you socialize them the more comfortable they will become around each other. The first couple of times may be a little weird with lots of sniffing and stuff but as long as both of the dogs know that the humans are dominate they will not challenge each other for the position.

Why would my dog sound like hes coughing up a hair ball after driking water?

My 11 month old PomChi has been doing this since he was born, but only once in a while. After drinking water he sounds as if he was gaging or something like if he had hair in his throat. Is this any danger to my dog? He only gags for a few seconds after driking water. Also is my dog snoring normal aswell? He snores once in a while while sleeping, and does so very loud. Thanks!

Why would my dog sound like hes coughing up a hair ball after driking water?

he just drinks too fast probably. take him to the vet just to be sure.

i had a doberman that ate super fast and always barfed it up then ate it again. he just ate too fast.

thank god he was an outside dog.

Why would my dog sound like hes coughing up a hair ball after driking water?

I don't know exactly what causes it but I took my chihuahua to the veterinarian because of it and she told me that it was perfectly normal for small dogs.

Best of Luck

Why would my dog sound like hes coughing up a hair ball after driking water?

make sure the water is room temp. i have an apple-head teacup Chihuahua does the same. found that if i give her temp. water shes fine.

Why would my dog sound like hes coughing up a hair ball after driking water?

if you are worried i would take him to your nearest vet for a check up and ask the dr what your concerns are it wouldnt hurt to know a profesenial opinion thats the only way to know what is wrong or if there is any thing to worry about , my opinion sounds like a hair ball but it could also be something constricting his breathing the vet is the best chioce

Why would my dog sound like hes coughing up a hair ball after driking water?

Sounds like he may have a Bronchial or a Tracheal problem or if he is coughing at any other time you should get him to the vetSome Poms have Tracheal problems.I have never had that problem but many people have asked me about that,so I know there is or can be that problem.Take him to the Vet.

Why would my dog sound like hes coughing up a hair ball after driking water?

Hes just drinking it too fast. My dogs do that when they're REALLY thirsty. Just like we do.

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

do you have any advice for a stubborn dog who snaps at you when you cut his hair?

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

No, it is unaccetable for any dog to snap at the owner for any reason. Consult a Canine behaviorist. BTW, a groomer will not groom a dog that bites either, how mean would that be to take your dog that bites and dump him on someone else?!

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

Muzzle.

Or desensitize. This will take you a long time. Approach the dog with the scissors, and lay the scissors next to the dog. Give the dog a very VALUABLE (steak, hot dog, cheese) treats. Keep doing this while moving the scissors closer and closer to the dog. Then take them in your hand, reward, continue until you are able to feed the dog WHILE cutting the dog's fur.

BYB- Unfortunately, most dog owners give their biting dogs to the groomers.

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

put a muzzle on, and have 2 peopl help, one hold the dog, 2 cut the dogs fur, good luck!!

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

Buy a muzzle to protect yourself but get him accustomed to the sound of the clippers, the feeling of brushes and combs. If it's a big dog, get help in calming and restraining him.

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

Yes, don't do it, he apparently is afraid of how he will look, ha ha

no for real, be careful, you can muzzle him, is the way to teach him to sit for you..........I must warn you, some dogs do not like muzzles either

good luck

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

have a partner to help hold him, and feed him treats while you do it.

little dog? wrap him in a towel if your doing the head, or wrap his head in a towel if your doing his body?

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

Like others have said.....a muzzle. You can easily make one by cutting a leg off of a pair of panty hose. Tie a slip knot, slide it over the dog's muzzle, knot side up, tighten and tie again underneath chin, then take the ends and tie behind their ears. Works great, and is soft and doesn't cause harm, providing you don't intentionally over tighten it.

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

1)try asking it to sit and stay

2)put a treat in front of it

3)cut his hair gently

4)let him eat the treat

this works for my dog cuz he knows that if he cooperates then he gets his treat!

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

How old is your dog and how often do you bathe him?

It sounds as if he may not be used to having a bath or being groomed?

If so, you need to acclimatize him to bath time and also give him rewards after you bath him. He needs to trust you enough to let you cut areas he feels anxious or threatened by him in some way. It takes time to do this but it's worth it to save money in the long run.

If he snaps at you then you might need to get a muzzle at first until he gets used to have his facial hair cut. He also needs to be repriminded in someway for snapping at you - if he doesn't know what he is doing is wrong, he will keep doing it.

My dog used to hate baths and getting his hair cut. But now I bathe him every two weeks and he is a good buy. No muzzle but he will behave. I usually let him rest his jaw on my palm and slowly snip away.

After bath time and he is dry he knows a treat is in hand so he runs to the pantry and wait for me to give him his snacks.

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

Your dog is not stubborn, it is uncomfortable and afraid of having his hair cut. You need to counter condition and desensitize the dog to being clipped. Make sure you never cut or nick the dog in the process.

There is a great video on youtube showing how a dog was clicker trained in under an hour to having his nails clipped. If you have never trained your dog or learned how dogs learned new skills you should also read some good books. You'll find them here

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

What kind of dog is it that would be $50 for a haircut? Regardless, you need a muzzle on that dog! Also, a grooming noose attached to a grooming arm that is attached to a table. Getting the dog up on a table helps with control. Sometimes a dog has enough of a fight drive to disallow you doing anything so you have to take steps to be able to show him how to allow you to do it without him going off on you. With a muzzle, the dog should stand still (sometimes it calms them). If he thrashes, back away just a touch until he settles then when you approach move slowly. Do NOT talk to your dog. The only communication he needs is through how you touch him. Make him listen to your hands, not your voice.

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

Thats a bloody nuisance when they won't play ball on this one, dog groomers are extortionate in their fees as you've just found out! Get yourself some hair clippers, the ones for our own hair is what i use and you can pick a set, all combs and scissors included, up for around a tenner which is about $7 / $8 in your money! Dogs get a bit wary of being up high without sufficient control over what they're doing so do what i do - get your ironing board out! Raise it to your height and make sure its locked in safely so's it won't collapse when you sit Master Stubborn ha ha. Turn on the clippers before you start so that he know's what the noise is later on, let him sniff them and if he wants, lay them at his feet! Put him on the ironing board and comb him through as the groomer would then start snipping at his hair, the sounds of the scissors may make him on edge but perserve. Chop of his longer locks until you get to his first coat, the bit that needs shaving with the noisy clippers! This is the moment dogs go a bit hyper, they're scared is all it is but reassure him constantly - stroking him and holding him and telling him his mummys best boy, you know how they love all that praise ha ha. Turn the clippers on but don't hide them behind your back to be kind to him, he needs to see whats coming and will appreciate it. Once the clippers a whirring start on his lower flanks then work up towards his shoulders, talking to him ALL the time. KEEP telling him he's the best lad for having this done and how handsome he'll be by the end of it! If others are there with you you'll see an awful lot of eyes going skyward ha ha, they'll think you're nuts but who's having the last laugh saving $50.00??? If he should play up whilst he's on the ironing board, stay firm and consistant in your vocals, he's staying up there whether he likes it or not! He won't jump, he'll be too wary but its not cruel honest, i do it all the time and now mine just sit there no trouble. He may lay down the full length of the ironing board as defience but just put your hand under his belly and lift him up. Once he's been clipped by the shearers use the scissors to do around his eyes and ears and nails. he may let you cut his nails on the board but don't count on it! I paid a lot of money over the years for my jack/yorkie cross to have his nails cut! He'd go like a loon until last year ( he's eleven this year !!! ) when he was in the bath of all places! I checked his nails thinking - more bloody money ha ha when instead of snatching his paw away, he let me hold it and examine his ' man fridays' as i used to call them ha ha ha. I pushed my luck and grabbed the nail clippers, revelation - HE LET ME do them! Now, when his nails grow long, its into the bath for him, without the water, it has the same effect! If, at any point, he growls, show's his teeth or snaps at you, shout very loudly -NO, and carry on with what you're doing, he must not be allowed to dictate your rules mum! It may take a week to cut his hair, did me with my bischon ha ha but i got there in the end. Now, all three of my boys will sit quietly on the ironing board for their hair cuts and nail clipping bar one, he has to go in the bath ha ha. Perseverence is the name of the game here my friend, keep it up and you'll save yourself an absolute fortune, give in to the whining and snapping and you;ll be forking out for the rest of his life!!! Good luck to you.

My dog will not let me cut his hair we just dont have to 50$ to get it cut right now?

dont put yourself at risk. putting a muzzle on a dog isnt gona stop the dog from jumping around. even if you have someone hold the dog down with a muzzle on you might take a chance of really goofing up its hair. my dog had to be sedated just to take a bath. if you dont have the money right now you might need to wait until you do and have him sedated just to get it done right. dont do something you will hate later. good luck

My dog is losing a lot of his hair, I know some shedding is normal but I'm worried.?

My dog has had valley fever for about 5 mths now and lately he's been losing a lot of his hair, in clumps. I'm worried, is this normal?

My dog is losing a lot of his hair, I know some shedding is normal but I'm worried.?

The loss of hair is due to exccesive sweet intake.

Avoide giving sweet to your dog.

My dog is losing a lot of his hair, I know some shedding is normal but I'm worried.?

if it has fleas and ticks you mite want to get medical help and take it to the vet or somthing

My dog is losing a lot of his hair, I know some shedding is normal but I'm worried.?

Yep, take it to the medical or pet care center something...Since i myself dun really know anythin much about it..

When you are clipping a dog like a schnoodle or other dogs with hair around their whiskers how do yo

cutting the whiskers.

When you are clipping a dog like a schnoodle or other dogs with hair around their whiskers how do you avoid?

You can't, at least not with clippers. If you know where the dog's whiskers are, you can scissor the muzzle and snip around them. Other'n that, schnoodle whiskers are rare as hen's teeth...if they're long enough, you can't see them through the moustache, and if you clip the moustache the whiskers go too.

Combat Poodle Pepper was an exception in this, as in much else. His whiskers grew faster than his moustache...so I *did* get to see them. %26gt;({|:-)

My pet is a dog. I heard that it possible that a dog's hair can somehow get into a person'

That's incredibly [scientifically] false and stupid.

No, hair cannot get into your brain.

My pet is a dog. I heard that it possible that a dog's hair can somehow get into a person's brain? Any truth?

I have been in the veterinary field for 12 years and have never heard anything like this..

My pet is a dog. I heard that it possible that a dog's hair can somehow get into a person's brain? Any truth?

Um, only if you cut the person's skull open and put it there? Have you no concept of human physiology? Where is there an opening to the brain? Wherever you found this, it's not only false, but ridiculous.

My pet is a dog. I heard that it possible that a dog's hair can somehow get into a person's brain? Any truth?

I dont even know how that can happen. No its not true at all.

My pet is a dog. I heard that it possible that a dog's hair can somehow get into a person's brain? Any truth?

Call Myth Busters, we have a winner!!

Hahaha sorry, never heard anything like that. Only way it could happen would be if you had an open head wound.

My pet is a dog. I heard that it possible that a dog's hair can somehow get into a person's brain? Any truth?

I have had over 40 dogs. I can safely say that no dog hair ever got in my brain.

My pet is a dog. I heard that it possible that a dog's hair can somehow get into a person's brain? Any truth?

no even if you breathed it in or swallowed it it would go to your stomach or lungs no conection to brain

My pet is a dog. I heard that it possible that a dog's hair can somehow get into a person's brain? Any truth?

That's kind of stupid. Only way it could enter is by breathing it in your nose and that's what the hairs in your nose filter out.

My pet is a dog. I heard that it possible that a dog's hair can somehow get into a person's brain? Any truth?

LOL What Brain gave you that Info?

What will happen if your dog loses hair?

get it a sweater.

What will happen if your dog loses hair?

nothing will happen, it is just shedding... all dogs do it... it is a part of life... nothing serious... if you start to get worried, take your dog to the vet.

What will happen if your dog loses hair?

Depends on why they are losing hair... they could have the mange.. and you could get it too

What will happen if your dog loses hair?

It will be bald.

What will happen if your dog loses hair?

How much hair is your dog losing? If it's normal shedding due to the summer coming on, fine. But if he/she is losing a great deal of hair, then it could be a thyroid problem and he/she needs to go to the vet.

How do you brush your dog's hair?

Like what they do at the groomers?

How do you brush your dog's hair?

That depends entirely on what type of coat the dog has.

If it a short coat, a good brushing with a soft bristle brush(with the hair...head toward tail and downward on the sides) should do nicely.

If it is a medium to long coat, a rounded wire dog brush is needed to help detangle and smooth the coat.

For dogs with multi layered coats, you will need a shedding comb (looks like a miniture garden rake) to help pull out the loose hair while it is being shed.

Daily grooming is a must for ALL dogs as it helps pull the oils into the fur and helps to prevent dry skin and matting.

How do you brush your dog's hair?

Just with a flea comb and a cleaner brush to smooth and get out loose hair.

How do you brush your dog's hair?

If you ask, most groomers will be willing to show you proper brushing techniques when you bring your dog in. They'd rather groom a dog whose coat is properly maintained than one that's all matted.

Getting Blue Ink out of Dog Fur / Hair?

My Shih Tzu Puppy managed to discover a blue ink pen and chewed on it until the ink leaked out all over the carpet and the puppy - so now I have a blue puppy and stained carpet

Help!

Getting Blue Ink out of Dog Fur / Hair?

Cleaning dog...EASY! Just soap and warm water...carpet...more difficult...apply paper towel and pull at strands...then a clean one with warm soapy water...pull at strands esp. with shag carpet. I don't advise chemicals at all.

Getting Blue Ink out of Dog Fur / Hair?

try mean green on the carpet but the dog you will probably have to cut the dogs hair

Getting Blue Ink out of Dog Fur / Hair?

my puppy did that for awhile too...you're gonna want to hide all the pens, or not leave them where the pupppy can get them. All of the blue ink may not come out the first day, but don't freak out. if you use a good puppy shampoo he'll be good as new sooner than you think. also, a trick my husband uses is he used my conditioner on the puppy so if she got into anything sticky, or ink it was easier to get out the next time...good luck!

Getting Blue Ink out of Dog Fur / Hair?

Hairspray or straight rubbing alcohol will break down the ink. After that give him a bath.

Getting Blue Ink out of Dog Fur / Hair?

Wash the dog, that should help. If not you can clip her, or she'll shed out the affected hair.

How can i stop my dog falling hair?

Try giving a teaspoon of virgin cocnut oil every day and at night spread some on the skin

you well see the difference in two weeks

works for my pitbull

hope this helps

How can i stop my dog falling hair?

Take your dog to the vet. It could be a number of issues. I had a dog with the same problem. The vet suggested it could be mange, mites, or a yeast or fungal skin infection. It was none of these, and my dog was almost bald, until we tried giving her steroids. She began growing fur, but it was kind of hard on her liver. Have your vet test your dog for those problems.

How can i stop my dog falling hair?

you cant hes shedding all dogs shed in the summer the best thing to do is keep brushing him especially behind the ears

How can i stop my dog falling hair?

sorry dud i dont know but u can ask a pet doctor

What can i do for my dog drop hair because my house got his hair anywhere.?

You can buy some thinning shears from pet stores (local or online) and it will help, as well as taking to have him trimmed.

What can i do for my dog drop hair because my house got his hair anywhere.?

Shave him down.

What can i do for my dog drop hair because my house got his hair anywhere.?

Brush him.

What can i do for my dog drop hair because my house got his hair anywhere.?

Vacuum at least once a week and brush your dog daily.

Shedding is a fact of life for most dogs. The more you brush, the more hair will be caught in the brush and not make it to the house. If your dog seems to be shedding excessively, more than usual, or at an unusual time of year, you might want to see your vet. Various things can make a dog shed more than normal. Poor diet, stress (nervousness), and various illnesses could all be the culprit.

But if your dog is just a normal, hairy dog, brush brush brush and vacuum what's left behind. There are also supplements you can find at any pet store or on-line catalog that are supposed to reduce shedding, but I don't know how well they work.

What can i do for my dog drop hair because my house got his hair anywhere.?

brush him todos los days .

What can i do for my dog drop hair because my house got his hair anywhere.?

Brush him at least once a week

What can i do for my dog drop hair because my house got his hair anywhere.?

We brush our dog with a special brush that is meant to get stray hairs from the undercoat everyday/every other day depending on what results we got the day before.

At first the dog didn't like it at all but now its our special bonding time where she can just lie down and be "petted" for a while. House stays cleaner, she gets more love- its a dual winner!

Can i make my dog's hair long?

Sure let your dog wear a wig

Can i make my dog's hair long?

NO! If its a short haired dog then thats it.

Can i make my dog's hair long?

Not if it's a short-haired breed.

Can i make my dog's hair long?

no, not unless you glue on some hair.

Can i make my dog's hair long?

umm.. noo..

Can i make my dog's hair long?

if your dog is a long haired, then oh ya but short haired- not at all. Sorry.

Can i make my dog's hair long?

Sorry a dog's coat(hair) has to do with the breed of dog. Not a think you can do about it. It's the same as humans we are who we are.

Can i make my dog's hair long?

No, you cannot make his hair grow, they only shed, it doesnt grow out like Humans. Same thing as asking if you can make yourself taller.

Can i make my dog's hair long?

Hair extensions! If it's a short hair dog it's the only way to go...Good luck with that;^)

Can i make my dog's hair long?

It's either in the genetics or it's not. If it *is* a coated dog there are things you can do to encourage a long healthy coat...a good diet, regular (but proper) brushing and baths, etc. A dirty and tangled/matted coat will never reach it's full potential.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

uuummm...would neither make me a bad dog owner?!

P.S. That's true. Yikes, I gotta get the girls in bed.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

I do it my self but depending on how long you want it always measure with your fingers and use scissors. measuring w/ you fingers is where you put an amount of hair between your 1st and 3rd fingers. and cut what is on top not under the fingers

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

My last dog was a shorthaired dog with a coat quite like a boxers (but she was a mutt :P).

So I brushed and groomed that way, but she never needed a haircut :)

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

Since my dog is a bit on the hyper side, it's easier to take him to a groomer. He's less stressed and so am I.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

I personally bring mine to he groomer. My boy has ALOT of fur on that body of his. I dont suggest an average pet owner to do this however. Alot of times we end up getting animals in the clinic that are in need of stiches because of a at home hair cut. If you have the money, take it to a groomer.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

we do not use a groomer. my mother once worked in a petshop where the owner also did grooming. she says that the woman was not good to the dogs, and ever since then she doesn't trust groomers. we use both the electric clippers and scissors.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

Trim it myself. So far it's been minimal - just hair around their paws and a little sanitary trimming. Once their full coats grow in I might do a little touch up around their ears and such, but it's mostly optional. Brushing is the big job.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

I am a dog groomer at the vet where I work, so if I had a dog that required hair trimming of any kind, yes. Not everyone has the skills it takes to do a decent job with the clippers (one of the vets I work under should NOT be allowed near any dog with clippers unless she's clipping a wound to clean it!). If you get a puppy that requires grooming, I would suggest going to the groomers at least for the first cut and possibly a few more after the very first one. The clippers can be VERY scary for a puppy and most groomers have done enough puppy cuts that they know ways to get the pup accustomed to being groomed. If you do decide to do any sort of hair trimming on your own, invest in some quality equipment. It may seem obscenely expensive at first, but if you get good equipment to begin with and take good care of it it will last a lifetime. Also, be patient with yourself. It may take a few questionable looking trims before you get the hang of the clippers and are satisfied with your results.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

I do both. Remember: "You can!!!" Still, it depends what kind of breed you have. The more you tell me, the more I can help you.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

groomers do a better job than you can do at home....i.e. they

bathe and rinse completely, check the skin, eyes, ears and everything else for signs of disease that most pet owners overlook.

As an example, today I had a dog owner bring in a cockerpoo.

First time dog owner, loves the pooch and I have been training her how to brush And Comb to the skin. Dog has watery eyes and rubs it's face on the carpet to dry itself. Face and ears were completely matted. Ears

had 1" thick matted hair on both sides of ear flap and ears were attached to the neck. Owner had been brushing, but not to skin, as all groomer see over and Over. After taking off the hair on the ear leather I found a hematoma in the ear leather from shaking it's head. We find stuff you pet people don't know about....because that is our job.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

I have seven dogs (3 rescues) - 2 Standard Poodles, 1 Cocker Spaniel, 1 Blind Yorkie, 3 yorkie/maltese mix, so needless to say, I have learned to be as good as a professional groomer! The poodles need major grooming every 4 weeks! I actually have gotten good enough to have regular "customers" in my friends. And I agree with someone else's answer - I have worked for and have seen professional groomers in action - not a pretty sight! You would be shocked at what goes on behind those closed doors! My dogs will never step foot in a grooming salon again!

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

I groom my dogs myself. Not too much to do on a Golden. Paws and sometimes their chest fur. Ton's of brushing though. Thats about it.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

i dont do eather. she sheads. duh!

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

We have long haired chihuahuas and we leave their hair alone. We wash it of course and brush it but we don't trim it. I had a Lhasa Apso/poodle mix a few years ago that loved to run on our farm and always got burrs in its fur in the summer. I cut its hair myself and it didn't look bad at all. He enjoyed his little haircuts.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

I have been a professional groomer, so I don't know how to answer that, but I will tell you I have seen some really traumatic results from home grooming jobs. One person clipped off his dog's nipple, and another cut off part of her cocker's ear. Another jabbed a dog in the eye witht eh scissors. Fortunately, the vet saved the eye. Poor dog.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

Sometimes we take my dog to the groomer and sometimes we cut it ourselves because we don't want to waste money.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

If you are an expert, then go ahead. Do it yourself. If you are not so sure, then bring him to the groomer who will do a much greater job.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

To me it is just alot easier on me and my dogs to take them to the groomer. My dogs don't mind having their feet touched - but they don't like to hold still and being at the groomer puts them in a neutral place.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

I take her to a groomer every 3 or 4 months.

Do you trim your dog's hair yourself or take it to a groomer?

I have Standard Poodles, so have learned over time to groom them myself. I researched, and then selected the professional grooming equipment I'd need, along with some how-to DVDs. The investment was a lot of money, but has since paid for itself over and over! ($127 every 4 weeks, + tip, for each dog at the groomer's!)

I enjoy the grooming process, and bonding with my dogs. It's a creative outlet as well, and I so enjoy how lovely they look when I'm all done. I'm able to keep them looking great all the time with little touch ups (shave face, feet, tail base every week), which makes it easier on me than a 4-week growth.

There are professional groomer's who are willing to provide lessons, so you can learn how to groom your dog yourself, so he comes out looking polished and professionally done.

What will stop my dog casting hair,?

All dogs with few exceptions shed. Especially at the change of seasons. A diet with rich EFA (fatty acids) can slightly reduce shedding and make a better haircoat, bothing an prevent it. Dogs have a winter and a summer coat and they shed seasonally as well as shed throughout the year to replenish old hair.

Daily brushing will allow you to control where the hair goes. Daily brushing eliminates 90% of the shedding if you keep up with it and is a nice time to bond with your pet. But skip even a day and the shedding will be back.

Some breeds can be taken to the groomer to be shaved and cropped. This often helps with shedding as the old coat is removed there and the hair is shortened a lot so it brushes easier.

What will stop my dog casting hair,?

ell him to stop it

What will stop my dog casting hair,?

"castring"? Do you mean shedding? If so, only certain breeds do not shed; most do. If your dog sheds a lot, try brushing him/her more often. You should try to brush your dog daily. This keeps their coat %26amp; skin healthy; it also reduces shedding %26amp; builds the bond between the two of you. During season changes, their coats often shed more also.

I have an itchy dog with hair loss what can I do to allevite his suffering?

you need to take your dog to a vet and have her thyroid tested, then go from there.

I have an itchy dog with hair loss what can I do to allevite his suffering?

give him a bath and call the vet... there could be a medical problem going on there

I have an itchy dog with hair loss what can I do to allevite his suffering?

It can be food allergies, it can be mites, it could be that you楹搑e washing your dog too often (should not really wash him at all unless he REALLY needs it and then with dog shampoo since their skins ph-level is different from ours and might not tolerate human shampoo very well).

Try ruling out stuff, maybe even stress, and hopefully you楹搇l see a difference! If all fails, or maybe as the first action, take him to the vet, he should be able to tell you.

I have an itchy dog with hair loss what can I do to allevite his suffering?

give him a bath with a oatmeal shampoo and a dog conditioner. also, give him brewers yeast supplements as a treat or in his food, which will help with skin and coat.

also, if he has a kennel or dog bed, wash that too.

I have an itchy dog with hair loss what can I do to allevite his suffering?

Get him to a vet. He may have the mange.

I have an itchy dog with hair loss what can I do to allevite his suffering?

Two schools of thought.

1) You do need a diagnosis that only a vet can provide. Your dog may have hot spots, mites, fleas, mange, thyroid disease, psoriasis, ringworm etc. Once diagnoses, you can often skip the vet visit the next time. Also, the vet can get your dog on anti-inflammatories and antibiotics to help cure it.

2) Home approach. In general, a dog shampoo designed for itchyness with oatmea or coal tar will work and provide temporary relief. This is available at most petstores. You woudl bathe the dog every few days with a soothing shampoo. The problem is that if you have mange, ringworm, mites, etc. you would need a different shampoo, you put yourself at risk for getting it and it will not go away without medication.

It really would be best to get it diagnosed and in the future you will know how best to approach it.

I have an itchy dog with hair loss what can I do to allevite his suffering?

With ours it was usually an allergy to fleas when they did that and it would take a visit to the vet and a shot of cortizone to help. There are other things that could be causing it so the best place to start is a visit to the vet who can then advise you how to best help your pup.

I have an itchy dog with hair loss what can I do to allevite his suffering?

could be fleas, dermatitis, mange. I would take him to a vet

Wondering what this dream means?

i had a dream about hair coming out of my mouth when i woke up and it keept coming out and it was choking me and in my dream it was my dogs hair witch was weird i was wondering if any one knows what it means

Wondering what this dream means?

I'm not sure but only one thing to do now, get the razor and shave FeeFee.

Wondering what this dream means?

you probably have a fear of choking subconsciously....i dont think it had anything negative to do with your dog...hes fine...just make sure to have water beside your bed!!

Wondering what this dream means?

If you honestly believe in dream interpretation, it signifies a sense of choking on what life has to offer. You may feel overwhelmed and stressed out by life and this is a manifestation of that fear

Wondering what this dream means?

brush the dog, vaccum the house, and change your sheets.

Wondering what this dream means?

Hair usually symbolizes thoughts as they both come from the head. It could be that you are choking on your own words.

Or simply, dog hair could be an issue in your home.

Wondering what this dream means?

When you dream about hair - it usually represents the side of you that is sexually passionate and it also represents your health.

Seeing your own pets in your dreams usually represents that you're not feeling totally loved at the moment and you need some TLC!

Hope this helps :-)

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

Yes, and he gets really upset with me. But I cut my own as well, so we get to laugh at each other.

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

no cause he is a lab-x but i paint his toenails myself and i know how to groom a dog.

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

No... because I have allergy. I just let our maid do it...=)

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

No.

Every 2 months I take my maltese cross Angel to the local Vet where they have a grooming service and get her proffessionally done by people who know how to treat animals well.

I could do it myself but it's her little treat. She get's a flea rinse, hydro-bath, blow dry, clip, ears cleaned, nails clipped and sprayed with puppy perfume. They also give her a check whilst they do it all!

She then gets a bath and blow dry once a week at home between visits.

Now that's what sort of life I would want as a dog!

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

yes i groom my own dogs and i cut my shihtzu's hair for years i took a class for dog grooming and she looks like shes been groomed by a professional groomer and cheaper than a groomer too! and she loves it!! she lays down and it relaxes her ..there can be alot of stress when taken to a groomers place

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

I used to have an Old English Sheepdog cross and every spring I would cut his hair down to the skin with scissors.

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

no, i go to a groomer

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

Yes and very carefully too. Not as pretty as a groomer could have done it but it saves some money.

:-)

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

No I tried once and turned to poor chap into a punk poodle..now I leave it to the dog parlour...

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

I *could*,but since my breed is HAND-STRIPPED,I DON'T!

DO *NOT* "DIY" if you're NOT a PROFESSIONAL!!!

Besides the risk of CUTTING or "clipper-burning" the animal, you'll need a MAJOR investment in PROPER TOOLS %26amp; the dog will look like *CRAP*!!! For MONTHS!!

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

Yes I do...but Im a groomer :)

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

If I had one NO!!

Do you cut your dog's hair yourself?

We shave our Lhasa Apso in between trips to the groomer. We have a $75 semi-professional dog clipper but our results always look terrible. I don't know how groomers get the dogs to hold still while shaving them. We shave the dog when he's dry. I assume that's how most groomers do it.

Question about Shih Tzu's?

Where can I find a hair clipper that actually works? What brand is the best? All that I have tried to use get clogged, and wont clip the dogs' hair. I've tried scissors, but they cause 'uneveness.' Help!

Question about Shih Tzu's?

First you use the scissors....... then you clean it up with clippers.............But I'd go to the groomer too.........less hassle and your dog won't hate you!!!!

Question about Shih Tzu's?

x

Question about Shih Tzu's?

I take my Shih Tzu to PetSmart. They do a good job grooming at a reasonable price.

Question about Shih Tzu's?

look at www.drsfostersmith.com

you can also go to the vet and some times they can order you one! At lest mine did. If you know a good groomer you can see if they can order u one.

Question about Shih Tzu's?

Pet smart is very great!!!

Question about Shih Tzu's?

Go to your local Sally's or Beauty supply place were you can get a more professional brand of clippers. I have bought the clipper sets that you get a Walmart and stuff and they don't work. But I have found out that with a better quality clipper from a beauty supply place works the best. If not try petco I know they carry good quality stuff there too. But you need to make sure you keep the clippers clean and oiled especially if the fur is dirty. But if the dog is really matted you may have to clipper the dog with no guard. It is very hard to clip a dog with a attachment on if the fur in knotted and dirty. Good Luck!!!

My dog (Staffy) has lost a patch of hair on his shoulder.?

My dog started getting irritated on the top of his shoulder. Now he has lost a patch of hair about 5cm by 5cm, now it has gotten worse and has lost his hair all down that leg. it is not irritating him that much, he hardly scratches it but often i see him licking it. The area is not red and does not look to be infected. Does any1 out there know what to do with it? Any good recommended creams, tablets?

My dog (Staffy) has lost a patch of hair on his shoulder.?

And what did the vet have to say about it?

My dog (Staffy) has lost a patch of hair on his shoulder.?

Do you live in the country? This sounds like it could be Ring Worm which is contacted through cattle, don't worry but you will need to get it treated by the vet

My dog (Staffy) has lost a patch of hair on his shoulder.?

P have same problem with my dog.Probably one of two things or both. 1. Dog has allergies( probably to fleas) and has developed yeast infection (Mylasia) (Dog has strong skin odor)

2. Dog has thyroid problems

Cortisone shots shorten dog's life. Ask vet about ketoconizole pills for mylasia and have dog checked for thyroid. My dog had both, but these two meds in combination reversed the hair loss...it tales a long time

My dog (Staffy) has lost a patch of hair on his shoulder.?

My friends dog had this probllem and if you go to the vet they will give you a pill and creme to put on the dog. Your dog will be ok thought or maybe it has a skin condition out of genes? Was her/his mom having this problem? well anyways i hope i help you out. good luck ( :

My dog (Staffy) has lost a patch of hair on his shoulder.?

What kind of food does your dog eat? May be allergies to the food and he has Hot Spots. If that's the case Wellness, Innova, and Solid Gold makes food for animals with allergies. A good one to try if your dog like fish is the Fish and Sweet Potato by Wellness.

If that is the case that he has allergies and you switch his food you should see a big difference in his coat and stools in about two weeks time. Remember to ween him off his old food though. Good Luck :)

I hav a maltese and need some advice on his health!?

the hair around his eyes are changeing and staining to a rust red color around them and its gotten worse and worse every day! i dont know wat to do and it wont wipe off! i know white dogs hair changes color around it but i have never seen it this bad!!

I hav a maltese and need some advice on his health!?

you do know there is a pets section right ?

well anyway, i have a maltese shitzu and she gets this too. Its like their tears and it stains their fur because their fur is white. Its nothing to worry about. If his eyes get gunky then just wipe of the gunk with a warm face washer. you cant do anything about the reddish stain though, its just the breed. you can take him to a groomer and they will cut the hair around is face a little shorter but that is the only thing i can suggest

I hav a maltese and need some advice on his health!?

its common lol. don't worry, all malteses get it. its called tear staining, its not a big deal, all malteses have it. my cousin's maltese has the same thing, its a dark red/burgundy color dw.

I hav a maltese and need some advice on his health!?

If you go to a pet store or ask a groomer there is a special product you can use that will help with getting out the stains. It's very normal.

I shaved my dog's hair and it is not growing back properly. Does anyone have an answer?

Time.

I shaved my dog's hair and it is not growing back properly. Does anyone have an answer?

anytime you shave anything the hair will grow back slightly longer than before.. and alot of times it will be more even and just make the animal look like a fluff ball.. its what happened to my half angora cat

I shaved my dog's hair and it is not growing back properly. Does anyone have an answer?

You probably did a shotty job on it. I'm a groomer myself, it also depends on the dogs furr, most dogs these days when are young get their furr cut off real short so it gros in real thick and grimy and will stay that way till the pass on. Either way if it's uneven and growing in all different lengths you wernt using either a clean blade or a old blade that needs to be replaced or sharpend, In any case hun leave to the professionals if you want a quality job done, or go take a few lessons from one, im alwas teaching peopl to groom their dogs properly at home so they dont have to come in so often. Thats what we are here for.

I shaved my dog's hair and it is not growing back properly. Does anyone have an answer?

what kind of dog is it? sometimes you can't cut their hair because it won't grow back right.

I shaved my dog's hair and it is not growing back properly. Does anyone have an answer?

see a vet.

I shaved my dog's hair and it is not growing back properly. Does anyone have an answer?

Shave him again.

I shaved my dog's hair and it is not growing back properly. Does anyone have an answer?

Take your dog to a professional groomer next time. You must have trimmed in uneven so it is growing back uneven.....shirgy

I shaved my dog's hair and it is not growing back properly. Does anyone have an answer?

go to the vet

I shaved my dog's hair and it is not growing back properly. Does anyone have an answer?

Some breeds are not meant to be clipped, it may never come back as it was.

I shaved my dog's hair and it is not growing back properly. Does anyone have an answer?

1st off Never clip a dirty dog. You ruin blades that way.

Some hair is more course while other is fine....this could be the difference in the way its growing back.

You could rebath your dog %26amp; go over total dog again(do not let the blades get hot on your dogs skin)...or carry to a Progroomer to straighten it up.

Hey, at least you tried!

Progroomer/24 yrs.

Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to give a Yorkie a "Puppy Cut"?

I want to learn how to do this because my 3 month old puppy has not had his rabies shot yet (one more month before we can do that) and they will not groom him until all shots are given. Poor thing can't see with all that hair in his eyes! Anyone, please help so I don't butcher my poor dogs hair. :)

Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to give a Yorkie a "Puppy Cut"?

A yorkie really only needs a good brushing and, if desired, pull his "bangs" into a ponytail on top of his head using a cloth covered band or small rubber band. Or, you can trim the bangs short like a human.

Tipping the ears is a must to help them stand up. Clip the hair on the ears about 1/4 of the way down the ear leather , up to the tip. Do this on both sides, be careful NOT to cut the ear leather.

Clean out the hair in the ears by "plucking" it.

Trim the pads and between the pads, clean around the potty track so he/she doesn't get their waste all over them. Trim the nails.

Yorkies are long haired dogs and require daily grooming (brushing and combing) to keep their coats shiny and soft. A bath once every two weeks is sometimes appropriate. Be sure and use a gentle shampoo so as not to dry out the skin, and be sure not to get any in the eyes as it will burn them and blister them.

Good luck!

Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to give a Yorkie a "Puppy Cut"?

take a razor

(electric hair cutting for dogs)

put a thing that will determine hair length and run up and down your dog

Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to give a Yorkie a "Puppy Cut"?

I would just trim the eye brows for now. puppy cuts are usually shave downs and are not good in all circumstances. dogs use their fur to regulate body temp.

Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to give a Yorkie a "Puppy Cut"?

Just buy a dog hair clipper because human clippers are not the same, Dog clippers cost around 20 to 30 dollars it all depends.

Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to give a Yorkie a "Puppy Cut"?

As long as you have the "age appropriate" shots for your pet, you can take your dog to Petco. They do not require the rabies shot until 4 months. As far as a puppy cut..........as long as your dog isn't matted, he just needs his eyes "scooped", paws trimmed, and a sanitary done. That should really be all that is done at first just to introduce your pet to grooming.

Why do dog clippers become dull when trimming dog's hair?

Using the oil provided upon purchase does not keep blades from dulling, nor does repeated cleaning of blades.Any help would be appreciated,Thank You,Chad Mueller

Why do dog clippers become dull when trimming dog's hair?

Any sharp object will become dull with use.

Clipping dirty or matted hair will dull them faster.

Blades should be sharpened occasionally by someone experienced with dog clipper blades.

EDIT: Reuben G is a moron. Of course you can have clipper blades sharpened.

http://www.bladessharpening.com/

Why do dog clippers become dull when trimming dog's hair?

Its relative to how much you use them, and the texture of the dog's fur or hair. Try sharpening them a little with a regular knife sharpener that you would use in the kitchen.

Why do dog clippers become dull when trimming dog's hair?

It's like knifes they get dull over time...that's why you have to sharpen them every so often and buy new ones... You don't think they last forever do you?

Why do dog clippers become dull when trimming dog's hair?

for the very same reason razors become dull with use. The oil is to lubricate and reduce friction, not sharpen the blade.

Why do dog clippers become dull when trimming dog's hair?

for the same reason razors become dull when you shave.

Why do dog clippers become dull when trimming dog's hair?

It's like using scissors, everything dulls over time and use. Depends on the type of fur you are cutting. Some fur is thinker then others thus dulling your blades quicker then when cutting thin hair.

Have the blades sharpened

Why do dog clippers become dull when trimming dog's hair?

Unfortunately, it's just like a pair of scissors- the more use they get with coarse hair, the faster they dull. They have services that can sharpen your blades, but we always just end up buying new ones, as when they wear out, they also end up breaking.

Make sure you are using a high quality clipper/blades- the cheaper ones will wear out quicker as well.

Also, you can get a spray can of blade cooler/cleaner- we use that as well. We keep 2 blades and switch them out, and spray the blades with the cleaner/cooler- it helps more than the oil does. It's like "Clipper cooler" or something.

Why do dog clippers become dull when trimming dog's hair?

They are to be used and thrown away..You can't get them sharpened,we have to but new ones..

Whats that show?

Why does my dog have hair loss?

Is it losing hair or shedding? It's normal to shed (and it can look like he's losing a lot of hair when he's shedding but it's not really that much).

If he's actually losing clumps of hair, down to the skin it could be anything or everything like lice, fleas, ring worm, mange, mites, allergic reactions, staph infection, worms, an impacted anal gland, some dogs rip out their hair out of boredom, around the neck would suggest the collar is too small (too tight to its neck) or too big or too wide (both of which would cause rubbing against the area, which causes discomfort and the dog scratches the area to rid itself of the discomfort when in turn it's actually tearing out the fur). The list goes on about possible reasons. If you give some more information regarding the areas missing hair, I can give a better idea of what's causing it.

UPDATED......If the majority of the hair loss is on her rump and she had tape worms, the hair loss is probably a result of that. Though you may not have noticed it, everytime she had a bowel movement, she was not only releasing bile but also the worms. Tape worms can grow upwards of 6 to 8 inches. It's so hard to "squeeze" out a tape worm so the only way to get the tape worm out of her bottom was to run her butt along the ground (in an attempt to drag the worms out). Hair missing in this area is also a sign of a blocked anal gland. Offer her a can or two of wet canned food. This is made 70% of water, which will soften her stools and make a bowel movement easier. Normally, a good, soft bowel movement can clear up a blocked anal gland. Consider investing in a tub of Nustock Cream (available at www.jeffers.com). It's farely inexpensive and if applied correctly, hair will begin growing within 3 days.

As for Science Diet......it's actually a very poor quality kibble. Vets often recommend it as good because you purchase it from them which makes them more money. Consider changing your dogs food to a higher quality kibble.

Fleas like the warm, moist spots too so that could be why your dog is "digging" in the webs of his paws. Hot spots (allergies) can be caused by fleas or food allergies too. It's highly possible he's got some hot spots in the webs. Also at Jeffers (the link above) you can buy an anti-septic (anti-itch) spray. I believe it's 3 dollars a bottle. This stuff can be used for just about every itch possible (except an itch caused by a fungus).

Mange is fungal and 99% of the time will begin on the dog's ears. His ears will look like they've been fly-bit, possibly even oozy and/or bloody. He may also appear to have bald spots around his eyes. Mange is pretty obvious so if you've taken the dog to the vet and the vet didn't suggest mange, it probably isn't.

Ring worm is usually a bald circle. The circle will be the color of the dog's skin, possibly even with bumps (or tiny pimple type appearance) in the circle. The outside of the circle (or the circle lining) is usually a white discoloration (this is the tail of the worm--hence, ring worm). A fungaside can clear this up (it's also available at Jeffers). But try the Nustock first--it'll clear up Mange, Hot spots, ring worm and a variety of other issues.

Why does my dog have hair loss?

I sure wouldn't know, as you haven't told us where its losing hair, or any other fact....

Why does my dog have hair loss?

lice or fleas

ring worm

most likey poor quality food or food allergies

avoid - wheat, corn, beef, pork and soy

Why does my dog have hair loss?

ok, the first person to give an answer is crazy...anywhoo, baldness can come from a bad diet, fleas, worms, or even a rash...i would definatly take your dog to the vet to get a full check-up...and if you are feeding him the really cheap stuff, that is normally not the best idea...ask your vet what he would recommend for your dog...okie dokie? i hope i helped!! good luck!

Why does my dog have hair loss?

maybe it might have a skin allergy, try dog foods made for dogs with special skin and getting tea tree dog shampoo or oatmeal shampoo and conditioners for dogs there good for skin related problems its should relieve the area and hair should grow back...

Why does my dog have hair loss?

I give up....WHY?

Why does my dog have hair loss?

it does depend on the kind of dog sometimes.if she is losing hair in big masses, you might want to talk her to a vet.if its shedding then it might be because she is over the age of two.good luck with helping your dog!!

Why does my dog have hair loss?

You should take ur dog to the vet he may have mange that is not good.

Why does my dog have hair loss?

you know there is this neat thing called um shedding it happens if they have poor food or allergies i am 13 and i know that

Why does my dog have hair loss?

Could be food allergies. If so, vet will recommend a prescription diet for the animal, available only from the vet. Could be demodectic or sarcoptic mange. Take it to the vet as soon as possible. Vet should do a skin scraping to determine if it is mange and what kind.

Why does my dog have hair loss?

Well, first of all a vet visit is definitly in order.

Everyone else laid out some pretty good answers, but one I didn't see (I only scanned though...so it might be in there) is chewing.

I had a Tri color collie who had very dry skin. She would scratch and chew so much she literally chewed her own hair off.

Benadryl (sp) cream helped fix it up quite nicely though.

If it is fleas or ticks, my vet told me the best flea killing shampoo that she had ever seen was lemon scented dawn dish soap...I know it sounds weird, but I used it on my dog and haven't had a flea problem since...

Why does my dog have hair loss?

my old dog was losing her hair in clumps....it turned out to be a thyroid problem. with inexpensive mediaction, she regained her hair and acted much more like her old self.

Why does my dog have hair loss?

The dog could have Mange, or it could be having an allergic reaction to something in his environment, such as his food. or flea treatment. If this doesn't help, consult your Veterinarian.

Why does my dog have hair loss?

if it is between the shoulder blades i think its b/c of flea poison we are putting on out pets? my little poodle, who is ten, is balding between her shoulders on her back . EXACTLY where she has had flea killer every year of her life!? i dunno??

Why does my dog have hair loss?

Hi there. It certainly sounds like some kind of allergy to me, probably food related. Another possible cause is ringworm...does anyone in your household have any fungal infection, like athletes foot for example?

Why does my dog have hair loss?

It probably wouldn't hurt to take your dog back %26amp; have your vet check her again. Some vets can do skin tests to determine what the dog is allergic to. The most common allergens for dogs are soy, wheat, %26amp; corn, which are in most commercial dog feeds. It wouldn't hurt to switch to a dog food that doesn't have those ingredients %26amp; start using a sensitive skin shampoo (make sure you rinse all of the soap out of the dog's hair). I hope this helps.

They say some dogs gain weight after alterning?

My poor pooch gained a ton of weight after his neutering, He weighed in at ten pounds when he went for his neuter, I took him to the vet a week and a half later and he had already gained over a pound, thats alot for a small dog. His hair dried out and he is now around 16 pounds less than a year later. People will accuse me of overfeeding etc, but the dog isnt free fed and I can assure you he eats no more than he ate prior to the neutering.I think they removed his thyroid instead of his testicles!!!!!!!!! Has this happened to anybody else out there?

They say some dogs gain weight after alterning?

Most dogs who are neutered gain weight I don't know why? Both of my neutered dogs are overweight My vet told me to put them on a diet. You can buy diet dog food and give them carrots for treats. Needless to say my dog looked at me like I was crazy when I handed him a carrot. I just figure it makes them better dogs when they are neutered and they have a happier plump life.

Clipping an agressive dog's hair?

if you had to how would you go about it? he is a small poodle mix

Clipping an agressive dog's hair?

i have one like that.

go to the vet and they will describe tranquilizers that make them sleepy while they are groomed after they are done they will wake up soon after

Clipping an agressive dog's hair?

I'm a groomer, and typically we just put a muzzle on the dog, have someone restrain the head so it can't whip around, and clip it down. Most groomers won't spend time doing anything fancy on a really aggressive dog. I do not suggest owners try to clip their own dogs, even if the dog is well behaved, grooming equipment is very sharp and dogs move a lot. It's very easy and sadly common for owners to seriously injure their dogs trying to groom at home.

Clipping an agressive dog's hair?

Put on a muzzle and tie her- have someone else to hold her down and help you if necessary.

Definately not the owner, however, because s/he is the reason the dog is aggressive.

Clipping an agressive dog's hair?

Slowly get him used to the sound and then feel of the clippers. Gradually try to do a little trimming. You may need a muzzle, so you don't have to worry about being bitten. If you are scared of being bitten you are going to be jumpy and he will be more scared too. If all else fails, consider taking him to a vet that has a groomer so they can sedate him and get the job done correctly. Then you could work on getting him used to the clippers for the next time.

Clipping an agressive dog's hair?

As with Alyssa, I too am a dog groomer. I would recommend that you take your dog to a grooming shop. It will cost you money but will save you a lot of aggravation. I can't tell you how many clients I have that tell me that their dog is impossible and won't let them brush or groom them. Usually I find that once the dog is out of their comfort zone (and they know what buttons to push with their owners) they respond very well. I have groomed many many dogs that I am told may need muzzles, etc and often they don't. They realize that they are not at home and they don't try to "get away with stuff".

Also, as Alyssa said, if we need to, we will muzzle them (but for myself personally that is a last resort). I would rather work with the dog and work through the issues if I can. It may not be the "fancy" clip if the dog is obstinate but it will be neater and better than letting him/her get all matted up.

Good luck

Ann

I have tried give my dog a hair cut and blow dry my dogs coat but she hates it, any tips!?

Does she hate the blow dryer or the cuts or both? She may hate the blow dryer because of the high pitch noise (we can't hear it), or she may hate the feeling. Is it too hot, maybe? You could give her a benadryl before to calm her down. Also, if she hates the cuts as well, you have to let her know who the boss is from the start. Don't go against the grain of her fur and don't use a stiff wire brush. Get a zoom groom from Pet Smart or Petco. Also, make sure that you aren't poking her accidentally. If you are using blades, make sure that you use the proper blade for the area you are doing. Be gentle, yet firm, and don't pamper her during the process because she knows she has won then.

I have tried give my dog a hair cut and blow dry my dogs coat but she hates it, any tips!?

Yes.....leave the dog alone.

I have tried give my dog a hair cut and blow dry my dogs coat but she hates it, any tips!?

I can only tell you one thing , don't cut the nails after bath , my dog hides under the bed when i run my shower she knows she might get a bath , it's not the bath its the nails !!! I have stopped doing it the same time now and it hasn't gotten any better yet. good luck.

I have tried give my dog a hair cut and blow dry my dogs coat but she hates it, any tips!?

get in tub with animal and play even do a bubble bath take a favorite toy and do not make the water to deep even a few treats you do not give other wise when good praise and give treat, then you get out leave dog in talking to it all the while, then once out let it air dry the blower frightens them, let dog see you blow dry your hair then it might let you sample dry theirs.

I have tried give my dog a hair cut and blow dry my dogs coat but she hates it, any tips!?

My dog never has really dug the blow drying part. I just kind of hold her firmly and talk to her. She has gotten a little better, and now she sits more patiently. She waits for me to say, ok go play, then she runs around like a wild bull! So cute!

I have tried give my dog a hair cut and blow dry my dogs coat but she hates it, any tips!?

i had a lhasa apso that was much the same way. talk to your vet, they can provide you with a mild tranquilizer to administer before bath time. you also may consider a professional groomer, but again the tranquilizer may still be necessary.

I have tried give my dog a hair cut and blow dry my dogs coat but she hates it, any tips!?

You have to make everything fun. And it's best to start when the dog is very young. If you get the pup used to baths and noises from a hair dryer, she won't mind it later. But if she's older and already developed an aversion to both, then try as you might, you probably won't have a lot of luck. Dogs can be very stubborn.

You could try a professional groomer and see if that helps. Going to a new place could be exciting. Bring lots of her favorite treats too. Your dog might associate going to the groomer with delicious treats - and that association might be so strong that she won't mind the bath, hair cut and hair dryer.

If that is too much $$, some professional groomers have areas where the owner can give his/her dog a bath himself (for a fee, of course). The bigger space might also calm your dog (as opposed to a small tub and bathroom). Again, keep the treats coming.

Also, if you are the "alpha" in the house, even if your dog hates it, by being a dominant alpha she will agree to your will and tolerate the bath, hair cut and drying. So you may also want to look into some obedience training for her (and you).

That's about it. If none of this works (and honestly, if she's properly obedience trained already and you still have this problem, it may be time for a refresher class for both of you), then you'll just have to find some way to make the event fun for her. For example, she probably hates the noise of the hair clippers and blow dryer. So towel dry her (dogs usually love that) and clip her hair with scissors when wet and let her dry naturally. It might be more work with scissors, but now the experience is better for both of you.

Good luck!
