we thought she was rubbing it off going under our garage in a little opening because it looked rubbed raw and sometimes it would have a little blood (this summer) now it is coming out all over her and she just had pups but this started before the pups came along help

Some dogs are extremely allergic to fleas, they call it flea bite dermatitis where the skin actually gets infected made worse by biting, scratching and licking. For some all it takes is one flea to make them nuts. If she is not on a flea med such as Advantage or Frontline then you may need to get some. Dont use powders, dips, or flea collars as they are not very effective and can actually be poisonus to the pups Make sure her nutritional needs are met as well (high protein diet) pups can take alot out of the momma. Consult your vet on which med is best for her and if it is OK to put on while she is nursing her pups. Good Luck

I would take her to the vet- if she just had puppies, she could have demodex mange. It's a condition that is usually triggered by stress, and what is more stressful than having puppies?

I had a half yellow lab with the same problem. It's like OCD. Your dog will have to go to the vet and be put on meds or else she will chew herself raw.

My dog had to be put down because it got so bad, he couldn't stop chewing on himself and chewed himself raw over 1/2 of his body.

Your dog should see the vet...ASAP. The dog can have mange or parasites or an allergic reaction or a nutritional deficiency as a result of the pup's drain on her (except that you said this happened this past summer as well, so it's probably not that).

ALL of these things are really uncomfortable for the dog, and can be dangerous as well. I strongly suggest you take this dog to the vet, for this condition as well as to get her spayed. If nothing else, it could pass to the pups or other dogs and if it's allergies then it could be genetic as well, and it would be great if we could limit the number of pups in the world.

My personal feeling is you are wasting the poor dogs life being a outside dog !! Take it to the vet and bring it in the house for a chance at a real life .Plus you need to get her fixed and stop being a irresponsible pet owner!

she needs to see a vet - it is just possible it is hormonal, but it sounds more like mange to me, which is something that will require some extensive and careful treatment. It will also affect the puppies, so the sooner you see the vet the better. And if, when you see the vet, you book her in to be spayed, that would show that you are a responsible dog owner also.
