Why would my dog sound like hes coughing up a hair ball after driking water?

My 11 month old PomChi has been doing this since he was born, but only once in a while. After drinking water he sounds as if he was gaging or something like if he had hair in his throat. Is this any danger to my dog? He only gags for a few seconds after driking water. Also is my dog snoring normal aswell? He snores once in a while while sleeping, and does so very loud. Thanks!

he just drinks too fast probably. take him to the vet just to be sure.

i had a doberman that ate super fast and always barfed it up then ate it again. he just ate too fast.

thank god he was an outside dog.

I don't know exactly what causes it but I took my chihuahua to the veterinarian because of it and she told me that it was perfectly normal for small dogs.

make sure the water is room temp. i have an apple-head teacup Chihuahua does the same. found that if i give her temp. water shes fine.

if you are worried i would take him to your nearest vet for a check up and ask the dr what your concerns are it wouldnt hurt to know a profesenial opinion thats the only way to know what is wrong or if there is any thing to worry about , my opinion sounds like a hair ball but it could also be something constricting his breathing the vet is the best chioce

Sounds like he may have a Bronchial or a Tracheal problem or if he is coughing at any other time you should get him to the vetSome Poms have Tracheal problems.I have never had that problem but many people have asked me about that,so I know there is or can be that problem.Take him to the Vet.

Hes just drinking it too fast. My dogs do that when they're REALLY thirsty. Just like we do.
