A bath

Use warm water (not cold, it causes the sap to harden), it will become like goo and then use soap. Also, take a dog comb in there with you and comb through the area (it will help pull the goo out with the soap). It may take two washes or so, but just use warm water and regular dog washing soap (not Dawn or WD40 or anything else bizarro!)

I know - my dogs came back in from my yard covered in it. At first I didn't know WHAT it was (as I don't have "pine" trees in my yard). But I do have a leland cyprus that saps out goo. A warm water bath and a comb will goo it up (it becomes like jelly) and away it goes!! I promise

OR

WD-40 (or Goof-Off, Goo-Gone) should take it out also but be sure to bathe the dog thoroughly afterwards because any/all of those products should not be ingested.

definitely try some vinegar. This happened to my dog once an it got worked out right away. just put it on a cloth and start to work it out. if it's not strong enough then use one part vinegar and one part skin-so-soft. good luck.......and God bless

There a numerous products which dissolve this. I think they are mostly diesel or kerosene fuel based. Use diesel and then a little oxy clean w/cold water and lemon soap to clean up the diesel smell. Don't try to burn it off...hmm
