im treating my dog now cuz he had fleas, but i think it might have gone into my hair cuz my head is itching a little bit! Would normal washing get rid of it or do I need special shampoo?

I know how you feel I had lice when I was younger, go to sallys beauty supply and ask for a lice shampoo they do the work, and buy a really really fine toothed comb to brush out the fleas you can even see them when they are being brushed out of the comb...

You might have lice. One time my little cousin had such bad lice, that whenever she would wash her hair, she would get like these bug things on her hand, and she thought it was fleas also, it ended up being lice and they just didn't check for months! poor girl

Eating alot of garlic is said to help deter fleas from dogs. I guess this would also be true for humans. This is due to the fact that fleas find garlic rather disgusting to have to eat. So once you and your pooch smell like garlic it deters the fleas.

If not you could also try bathing and combing regularly. You may want to use a nit comb to make sure you get rid of the fleas properly.

Other natural repellents include vitamin B1 (thiamine) and apple cider vinegar mixed with drinking water.

These are suggestions used typically on pets. But I can't see why they wouldn't work for a human. And the best part is that they're naturally occuring so they won't harm you or your pet if you decide to use them.

My kids were infested with fleas and lice a while ago (more than once...but that's another story) Lice shampoo is too harsh on thier scalps and really didn't work.

I found a great way to get rid of fleas/lice and it is better than anything else on the market!

Put mayonnaise in your hair at night. Put a shower cap over your hair while you sleep. Put a towel around your head as well to be extra sure the mayo doesn't leak out and stain pillows and sheets.

The next morning, you wash the mayonnaise out of your hair using vinegar. I found that vinegar straight from the bottle is very cold and uncomfortable so I warmed it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. The vinegar cuts the mayo. Then I used regular shampoo and conditioner.

It works better than any lice shampoo and is not harmful. Your hair benefits from an extra conditioning and the fleas are GONE! It worked every time and is a lot cheaper!

i've been there b4, well, not really, but fleas are just like lies(did not spell wright, but u no wat i meen) u want to wash ur hair with a product called "teatree oil shampoo and conditioner" and the get manaze(didn't spell right) and baby oil! the teatree will wash some bugs out and then put baby oil in ur hair and then but a plasic hair net around it... the hair net will suffacate the bugs and the baby oil will kill the bugs too!!!

and if that dosen't work put manaz in ur hair that will 4sure work!!!

and then wash it out with the teatree!!!

hi Lauren. dog fleas cant live very long on humans, but they can be irritating while you have them on you. i think just washing with your regular shampoo would probably get rid of them. by now, they have probably left your hair, anyway, since they are adapted to a diet of canine blood, not human blood.
