Dog missing hair on leg because of break.?

Hey everyone, please help me out a bit here. I have a 2 year old boxer, he broke his leg when he was about 6-8 months old. He's been missing a large patch of hair where the cast was on the front of the bottom part of his leg.

Is there anything i can do/use to get the hair to grow back?

I was told that it takes a year to heal and it will grow back once he sheds his summer coat and goes into the winter coat, but im skeptic. The previous wound seems to be not growing any hair at all.

all I can suggest is patience. And maybe a little Nu-Stock. (its a product that cures just about anything and most forms of hair loss, not sure why, it's one of those miracle ointments)

My Siberian Husky broke his growth plate in his knee and they had to shave the whole leg because he couldn't wear a cast. That was about 6 months ago and his hair has not fully grown in. The vet said that because it is shedding season it won't grow back yet. He said that if it doesn't go back within a year to bring him there and he can suggest a supplement to make it grow.
