My dog looks like she has dandruff. What can I use for her that will help with the "dandruff" and her itchy skin. My vet said to put olive oil on her food, but she won't eat it if I do. I tried the "missing link" supllement powder and she won;t eat with that on her food either.

try useing alot of conditioner with out alot of perfum in it ... also try feeding her eggs they are good for the coat .the dandruff can be caused by alot of things possibley washing her to often.. maybe coat her skin in olive oil

Your dog may just not like olive oil - try other types of oil like peanut oil. She may like that just fine. Also try switching around different brands of dog food - every dog reacts differently to different brands, one may really hit the spot. If there's kind of an upscale or "natural" type of pet store near you, go in and tell them your problem - they probably have some obscure brands of dog food that you can try and may be able to give some advice. Also, don't bathe your dog unless you need to. Too much bathing will strip her fur of its natural oils and lead to dandruff. When my dog starts smelling doggy I use a dry shampoo, and only wet shampoo her if she really rolls in something. Good luck.

Try 3V Caps Skin Formulation which you can get from your Vet. This has Omega 3, Vit A, D and E in it and I give it to all three of my dogs. It has done wonders, combined with their diet, for their skin. All three like to eat the caps. So they must taste good to dogs.

Ask your vet, mine gives me a bottle for the same problem with my dog every month. I also alternate every other bath with Head and Shoulders, which the vet assured me is completely safe.

You can bath the dog twice a week, alternate between the dog shampoo the vet gives you and the dandruff shampoo.
