My dog is biting her hair out. Please help!!!!!?

I have a 2 year old yellow lab and she has recently been spaed. Proceeding the surgery she has started chewing her hair out. yes she does have minor flees, but my other dog does too and he is just fine. I would take her to the vets but we live on a island in alaska and the vet only comes through every 2 months. If anyone can help slow it down untill the vet comes please do.

Just because one dog isn't bothered by the fleas doesn't mean the other one won't be. Maybe she happens to be allergic to fleas. Also, she may have "minor" fleas now, but if left untreated they will most definately become "major" fleas. Fleas can be a huge problem - young animals can die from "flea anemia" - too many fleas sucking their blood. Take care of the fleas. Why do you allow your dogs to have fleas?

She may be biting her hair out for other reasons then the flees. It can also be caused by anxiety problems or skin problems.

If its not one of those islands where its nothing but trees then go to a pet store and ask for this certain like medicine to put on them when they take baths! Or put lemon juice all over them! lol

Get rid of the fleas. You can order pet meds over the internet and have them sent to your door. I suspect she may have more than a minor flea problem Even after you rid her of the fleas she may still have skin irritation and scabs left for a while.

Keep after the fleas. They can make your dog miserable.

Lemon juice might burn if her skin is broken from flea bites. Bathe her with liquid dish soap, until you get something better, and rid her sleeping area of fleas too.

Don't forget to be vigilant because you have to rid her of the eggs too or the cycle will continue.

If she's a house dog then bomb your house (expensive). You can buy the bombs over the internet also.

Maybe this will help until the vet comes.
