I had a white mut that was part poodle and part Pomeranian. The front of her was the long hair, the back of her was the short, curly hair. I kept the back short, and brushed the front so she looked like a Tibetan temple dog. Still, she needed something to make her sparkle. So I used the past form of food coloring to give her a pink rinse. The food coloring didn't hurt her, and it rinsed out the next washing. So I could make her any color, or none, whenever I liked. She preferred pink.
