What are some good ways to doggs off of my furiture and beds?

one year ago I got a 4 year old gordan setter and for some reason he will not staay off of my furiture! I think it is absolutly nasty to sit and lay with dog hair. I havea pulled the cusions up, put objects on the furniture blocked the dog out of bedrooms and he sill gets on, he has a dog bed of his own! I have scolded him and nothing I do works...Please any Ideas whould be helpful!

Scat mats for the furniture, crate for when you cannot directly supervise and realistic training that involves corrections when he messes up. Dogs do not belong on beds or furniture, they are not on the same level with a human and allowing that behavior will cause problems in the future. Good luck.

This doesn't sound nice but every time his up there uses a spray bottle filled with water and tell him no also make a word that you say before you spray him eventually he will go running when you say that word lol. O don't worry he will learn. And it does not hurt just don't spray him in the eyes.

the pet stores have these mats that you put on ( the couch) and they keep the dog from getting up there. Keep after him, letting him on the furniture makes him think he is your equal and he doesnt have to listen to you.. I put small mouse traps on my couch and when mine got up there, they went off and scared them...they now are laying on their dog beds...Good luck

First, move Fido's bed into the central part of the home, i.e. living room so he can associate his bed with being part of the family.

Give him a good chew bone only when he is in the bed. Include him in the 'coversation' when he's on his bed.

Next, go to pet smart and get a FURMINATOR and brush off the undercoat of your goldie. You'll be amazed at how good of a job it does and it will greatly reduce or eliminate the shedding.

Scolding him is not going to get you the results that you want. You need to properly train him to stay off the furniture. When he gets up on the sofa, tell him "off" in a form tone and then lead him off the sofa and direct him to his doggie bed and have him sit on it. You are going to have to be consistent with him otherwise, he will always go on the furniture. You also have to remember that you got him as an adult and where ever he came from, he was probably allowed on the furniture. Everyone has a different view about how they want to raise their dogs and if they want them on the furniture or not. My dogs are allowed on the furniture as they are an integrated part of my life and after a hard day, nothing beats curling up on the sofa with one of mine and having some quality cuddle time. I don't mind the hair as that is what brushes and vacuums are for.

This what I would do. I would get an old rag for each place

I want the dog to stay off of. I would pore a little household

ammonia on each one and place them around where they

are needed. With a piece of saran wrap or aluminum foil

underneath to protect the aria. One whiff of that stuff and

you wont need to say a word to him. You may need to do

it two or three day in a row. If he gets up there again just

use a little more ammonia the next time. Dogs noses are

sensitive so you'll need to provide a place where he can

get away from the oder. Poor dog, Good luck.
