By far a dyson! I have never been so pleased with a vaccume cleaner. I have cats and dogs and the dyson is by far the best vaccume I have ever used. They sell an extra attachment for upholstry and cleaning furniture and let me tell you, it works like a charm.

dont know riccar, but i know a dyson works! i have 5 hairy dogs! and i borrow a friends dyson..i love it!

I would recommend a back pack vac and they will pick up anything and everything.They are widely used for janitorial work and they can be bought at janitorial supply stores. You won't see them advertised because they are too good. the brand names aren't important they are industiral quality.

I bought a Dyson, Animal, about 2 months ago and it is the best that I have ever had and "IF" it ever goes bad I will repair or buy another one. My carpet looks cleaner and there is no dog hair. The hose is over 18' long so I can do my stairs with the canister on the bottom floor and it has a special attachment for the furniture.

my house is all wood flooring or tile and our 2 dogs shed really bad their hair blew up my old vaccuum and so we bought a shop vac. it picks up the hair like nothing and for the little throw rugs i got a bagless bissell vac from walmart for under 100 bucks and it works great for furniture and small messes.
