my mum said the only way to let my dog out of his crate is if he is in our room. she bought a baby gate so to keep him in our room but still allow him to see us when we're not with him. she wont let him roam the house because he sheds everywhere and it looks really bad on our carpet. i volunteer to vacuum and tape the floor to get rid of dog hair but she said it will just come back so there's no point. is there anything that can help my dog shed less fur so i can let him roam the house? he is well behaved
How to help shedding?
You don't mention his breed, but some shed more than others. Shaving him won't stop shedding, you'll simply have shorter hairs...scattered everywhere. All you can really do is give him a quality food, brush/comb daily and vacuum regularly. Washing him with a mild shampoo or even plain water and using an 'air force' dryer helps loosen %26amp; blows the shedding coat off too. I recommend doing it outside, if you're able to get one...it really sends the hair flying. I'll add a link to the dryer I'm talking about.

My dog sheds a lot less since I switched her to grain-free foods. Also, you could try supplementing with omega fatty acids. I do have a furminator and it works great really gets a lot of hair out. However, none of these things is going to stop a dog from shedding completely. Dogs shed. It's a fact of life. Even if you shave your dog they still shed, the hair is just smaller and you can't see it. Sorry, but it sounds like your mother is unreasonable and I feel bad for your pup he's either allowed in the small crate or the big one.
